Ricky Stuart quits Parramatta Eels for Canberra Raiders job

i like also how he said that there is a board there tring to do a job but factions are making it difficult. So that says he thinks the board is not the problem it's the factions outside the board that are. I think he will stay. maybe

just seen the press conference. He seems fed up with the media. Like he said he's told them he's contracted to Eels and thats that. To me he won't go anywhere. I'm happy how he answered the clause in his contract part about the volatile board because it puts some pressure on Sharp to do something about it because he (Sticky) is clearly frustrated about it.

At the present time we essentially have a temporary coach who only has to hang around until something better comes along. This is in no way good for our Club. Now Sticky is going to be constantly linked with every vacant coaching position. If Tigers or Saints sacked their coach in Round 8 or 9 next year there is nothing stopping Sticky being appointed the next day. Not that he would go to either team, but there is always going to be constant speculation whilst he remains at the Club. It is clear the previous board was in complete awe of Sticky to even allow that clause. Sticky's appointment under those conditions is the dumbest and most amateurish decision I have ever seen. The board shouldve been sacked on that decision alone.

Given what he has said in the press conference he is going to look like a big goose if the Raiders call a press conference tomorrow or the next few days and announce him as the coach.

Honestly - we need stability. A coach seeing out a 3 year term, with a stable board and CEO.

That said, I honestly couldnt care less if he left. I expect it. FFS I can no longer expect a player to join us even after they have signed a contract. I expect bad news now. I would hardly batter an eyelid of we merged with Canterbury.

And the News Ltd article has absolutely nothing to back it up. Talk about destabilising agenda!

......and I wonder where that comes from?
But then, News Ltd's destabilising agenda has been going on 5 years.
The leaks before Fitzgerald was gone. The leaks during 3P's campaign. The leaks while they were in charge, for AND against them. The leaks leading into all elections since, for both sides of the Eels political agenda.
We all know both sides are playing the media and this is what pisses me off more than anything.
I'll never jump ship from the Eels, no matter how poorly we are going, but the shenanigans that have played out over the past 5 years have me at my most disinterested as I have ever been in my life as an Eels fan.
I went to my first game of the season last week, and saw them win against the Dragons. I have never, ever been so bored and unexcited at an NRL game in my life. The club has completely lost it's heart and soul. We are an embarrassment to the League.
Even during the shite 90's (yes, when Denis was in charge) the club had pride and was proud to be blue and gold.
Today, we are a laughing stock. An embarrassment. A shame to the NRL from a once mighty club.

THANK f**k THIS SEASON IS OVER!!
We are amateurs.

Ricky's not going anywhere. Never was.

I'm surprised by how many people on here have swallowed the Telegraph's rumours and headline-making as fact... but on the other hand, I'm not surprised at all.

TBH, I really don't care if Ricky stays or goes, that is how bad I feel after this pathetic season.

My concern is this: Ricky obviously doesn't feel that the board is behind him 100%. It has been reported that at least one board member doesn't want Ricky. So what happens if this board member get his wish, and the replacement doesn't have 100% board approval? The whole thing repeats itself, and we get ever closer to the NRL taking over and who knows what happens then?

What we need is stability from the top down. Everyone involved in an official capacity needs to present a united front, publicly back those appointed and get on with it. Sure you are never going to have everyone privately behind a coach or a CEO. That is human nature. However we cannot continue to go running to the media to whiteant certain people as it only serves to bring the whole joint down.

I see that Rothfield & Hadley are both saying that Sticky will leave not because of the infighting but for family reasons as he has a special needs child and there is a bunch of grannies in the ACT able to assist with care.

Either they are crasping at straws of Fordham is preparing an exit strategy that only a merkin would take to task.

If they play the autism card, just for the record, I don't buy it.

One of the reasons he chose Parra over Canberra originally was due to his family being settled in Sydney.

You're right, looks like they are making up an exit plan

So these grannies have been assembled in the season since he's been here you'd have to imagine?

No doubt from that Jim's Rent-a-Granny franchise.

this is my worry as well if stuart does go what happens if the board can't agree on who should be the new coach?
are we going to have an ongoing shitfight amongst the board until they wake up to themselves and pick someone?
how many players and sponsors would we lose in the meantime?

here's a thought, the board votes and a majority decision is reached.

The board than publicly endorses the new coach and the media and public never know what went on behind closed doors.

when are we going to have a professional run board?
