Baitieri and Bousquet injured. Pretty light in the forwards without them, I'm surprised they didn't include Ben Garcia in there.

Dureau must be getting close to the 3 year residency qualification. He has been at the dragons for a while now.

France has a very capable halves pair in Thomas Bosc and Theo Fages, we don't need every ex-NRL player that steps foot in France playing for them.

I hate the residency rule, it should be citizenship not just residency, make the player really commit to that nation not just be eligible just because he happens to have a long term contract for a club.

14 Gigot (Definatley needs to be backup hooker/bench utility, had a good season in NSW Cup and can cover fullback, centre, halves & hooker).
15 Simon
16 Fakir
17 Maria

I was going to ask how Gigot had been getting on, he was always a talented player but his defence was shocking and he never really seemed able to impose himself on matches as a halfback. Any word if he'll be back with Cronulla next year, or close to cracking first grade with them?

Who would be the better choice of Fages or Barthau?

Escare must be pretty good if he can beat Greenshields to fullback.

Barthau has looked really good whenever he's played and would probably be a first choice player at a lot of SL clubs, but he's stuck behind Bosc, Pryce and Dureau in the halves at Catalans so really struggles for game time. Fages looked pretty good in a very poor Salford team, but he's only just turned 19 and TBH it's difficult to judge his form given the team he was playing in. I'd be tempted to go with Barthau purely because he has more experience at international level, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go with Fages and they won't lose anything either way.

Escare is a gun.

He regularly played starting halves for the Cronulla NSW Cup side as well as a few games at hooker and fullback, The side were minor premiers. Strangely he left right on finals time to go back and play with Avignon from what I can tell. I would have thought he'd get some first grade game time at the end of this year but I don't think he would have been able to under the 25 man salary cap restrictions that stopped a few juniors making their debut this year.

Don't think there are any plans to bring him back next year, reading through the Cronulla forum though it seems a lot of posters there would have had him as the first choice back-up half for next season.

I was under the impression that Pelo was injured, Ferriol has retired from top grade RL despite playing in the French championship this year.

Greensheilds will play FB IMO as good a season as Escare has had you would have to go with Clint with all his experince at FB. The only way i can see that happening is if Clint went at 6 as Barthau and Gigot arent up to it. I know the guy at Salford has played first grade too but I havent seen anything of him to make a judgement.

I think they should run with Greenshelids either at 1 or 6 as that will allow him to take off some of the playmaking responsibilities from Bosc.

The kid Escaré had a wonderful year but his defence still requires, erm, a bit of work. He's bloody fast though.

Greenshields has never been a playmaker? He isn't going to be selected at fullback ahead of Escare.

Yeah, I guess he will have no idea how most of these guys wanna play having only played with most of them for like four years. Morgan Escare has played 20 first grade games with them.

Its got to be good we are having a debate about Frances' backline IMO, in years gone by you would be lucky to get together enough players to make a decent backline.
