Kiwi rugby??

Not unless he wants to take a pay cut...

SBW can get a big rugby deal here because he's already proved himself in the All Blacks...

Benji is taking a paycut to play rugby in NZ because he's unproven.

If he manages to make the All Blacks he gets a big increase... But that's a big IF.

Jarryd Hayne would be far, far better than Benji IMO.... But as far as I know he won't qualify for the All Blacks for at least 3 seasons... So would be on a minimum deal until then...

Would make far more sense if he played Rugby in Australia...

Do you really think Benji is taking a pay cut? I'd doubt it.

No - Watson got one right when he scored that 100.

After the review was correct, it was obvious everything would go his way.

I'm certain he has...

I know guys who play super rugby... The maxinum payment for super rugby in NZ if your not an All Black is $180K.

There's not as much restrictions on 3rd party deals but benji walked away from a 750K deal at the tigers.

I know he's popular but he would have to sign a 3rd party deal for something over 550K just to match the tigers offer.... And that's not even including whatever 3rd party deals he has to give up since he's moving back to NZ.

He will be taking a substantial pay cut. Just like SBW did when he originally moved back to NZ to play rugby.

The payoff though is if he manages to do what SBW did and become an All Black... Then the NZRU will contract him centrally... And depending on how those negotiations go his salary can go well over a million dollars. Not to mention the massive international exposure he's given for being an all black... Which increases his 3rd party deals...

He doesn't seem the type to walk away from massive coin, but you sound like a man in the know so I'll take your word for it.

In relation to the bolded above, would be interesting to know what 3rd party deals he did actually have to give up. Unless they were linked to his Tigpie contact, and hence included in the salary cap, he should be free to continue raking in the same 3rd party deals as before until those particular deals run out.

Yeah... I would say it would depend on what deals he has... You would think his Channel 9 deal will be done with...

I know he had a deal with Proton Cars... Which aren't even sold in NZ.

He would lose a few of those deals I'd imagine...

How the hell did you claw your way out of the swamp?

Anyway, it is a big pass from me on JOC. Parra could definitely use with some more merkins but O'Conner is a merkin and not a merkin, if you follow me.

There is no doubt he is talented but he would want ridiculous dollars and if some of our fans were complaining about Hayne acting like a princess, they will be be flipping tables with O'Conner.
