I'll still call it Parramatta Stadium but if we get some extra money that can only be a good thing.

Here's the picture btw.

Some people we still call it Cumberland oval.

Interestingly, this is the first time in 27 years the Stadium has had a sponsor.

Also it was announced just in time for the A-League kick off.

Looks like Pirtek found a way to stay involved when people wanted them gone.

Pirtek, who split its longtime association with the Parramatta Eels when the wooden spooners demanded more money from the company, has bought the naming rights for Parramatta Stadium.

When the former Parramatta chief executive Ken Edwards demanded early in the season that Pirtek increased their one million dollar a year sponsorship to $1.5 million, the company ended what had been a long-term and seemingly successful relationship.

However, it was understood Pirtek wanted to remain involved in the area via sport as a sign that it was committed to the western suburbs - the place where the global company started.

The deal means their brand will feature prominently at all events staged at the ground including Western Sydney Wanderers A-League games and, of course, Parramatta Eels games.

I am sure those closer to the club can confirm but when we agreed to our new much cheaper deal at Parramatta / Pirtek stadium, didn't we also give up setting the rights to sell the advertising hordings?

how much did it cost to be a major sponsor of the eels?
seems like pirtek got out of this one relatively cheap at 1.5m and their name spread all over the stadium.

I think it was reported that the new sponsorships deal added up to $1.1 M.

Pirtek's deal was touted in 2010 as the clubs first $1m sponsorship deal.

I doubt it would cost them $1.5M a year for the Stadium, if it did watch for an upgrade sooner rather than later

The deal is approx. $600,000

The stadium will be used just about every 2 weeks when we add the A League component.

We don't see a cent from this deal

no but you would hope it means better facilities for both players and supporters. NSW Venues is a gov organisation and so it doesn't really go into someones pocket (or shouldn't) rather back into the community.

BTW 600K for stadium naming rights is crazy, I would expect something like that to exceed 2-3 million because even when its not being used it is advertisement on the only stadium in NSW second largest city and Sydney second CBD.

Let's hope they do put the money back into better facilities

I'll always call it Parra Stadium, and just hope this doesn't mean we'll have Mark Warren screaming more company names at us over the speaker system every spare five seconds.
