Sooner players play, coaches coach, administrators administrate, managers manage, and the value of a handshake/contract is again sacrosanct, THE BETTER, not only for Rugby League - but society.

Just sayin'

I'd have to agree Pete.

If Hoppa is on a reported 850k a year, we would be mad not to let him go.
We have Hayne as fullback and Norman as 5/8. So that leaves Hoppa on the wing or centre. We could pick up Inu for around 250k.Blake Ferguson for around $350k (considering his turmoil) that still leaves 250K to spend.Maybe de gois and Luke o donnel for 125k each?
IS hoppa bettter than INU? yes but will he make a massive difference playing at centre over INU to the overall team? NO.

I don't completely understand what you're saying but I think I agree.

Inu - Been there, done that - lazy merkin. Dont want him.
Ferguson - Moving along from this - our club is in the press enough negatively - do we really want more?
O'Donnell - really? Didn't our club already go through a phase of hiring old age pensioners?
De Gois - even sharks supporters hate him.

Hopoate is a young player, a young Origin player - and potentially someone the club can build with. Yes he's a winger or Centre - who cares? Positive Marketability - truckloads - exactly the type of player this club needs at this point in time.

Headlines come round 1 will not be about how f***ing stupid our chairman is, but about the return of the most exciting young player in the NRL.

I wouldn't touch Ferguson.

I agree with jimmy77au's summation. Hoppa could be one of those players that other players want to play with. Hoppa, Hayne, Loko, there's plenty of x factor. Hope everyone stays fit next year. Could be a good year.

Yep 100% agree

Its off season. What's so good about hearing of a player who is returning in another month to NRL training? While a board at eels is being destructive? May as well write about the shit that's happening and wait for the good stories later.

Hate DT but they're just trying to sell the paper.

No quotes in an article always makes me take it with a grain of salt now. That and the fact that Hoppa said he would be at Eels no matter what the coaching situation is and start training November

We have a very good young squad and if we can keep them together for a few years success will come and will be there for a while. I'd like to see some tougher forwards come in 2015 but at the moment I'm happy with the squad

I disagree

u want a strike weapon it there such as jennings, gasnier, tahu the 1st time ,lyon

and hoppa can be that man ala soo

furthermore if norman fails and hayne goes to 6 or hayne gets injured, you will have a superstar there

Hoppa isn't going anywhere as no other club would be dumb enough to pay $800k for someone who hasn't played for 2 years.

Yes I know that the Lurker just makes shit up, but if it's remotely true that the Sharks are out to sign Kevin Locke, then we need a new accountant ASAP.

Not really, we have a better backline (1-5) than the Sharks at the moment.
Just think about that for a moment. Not to mention that a lot of the players that they picked up (Heighington, Beau Ryan etc) were all unwanted and in some cases discards. They have been very smart at recruiting over the last couple of years.
Matt Prior for example would have been dirt cheap, considering that he mentioned he would have had to go back and play for his junior club if he didn't get a contract. Shame we missed out on him.
