Well you might've seen the Roosters win a grand final last weekend, which was built on the back of a couple of lean years (even we beat them last year).

I'm sure we'll go better with Hopoate than without him. Just like it's no coincidence that our wooden spoons came during two seasons where our other superstar (Jayne) only played a total of 27 games.

If Hopoate and Hayne miss a lot of games next year (as they did the past two years) then I'm sure we'll win a third straight spoon.

Take the stars out of any team and they will struggle.

Especially when they've only got 5-6 other blokes who are first grade quality!

Hoppa is a massive + for our lineup next year.
Almost as significant will be guys who are 'real' first grade talents (Norman, Peats, Mossop) - they give us that 'depth' across the top of the squad that we desperately need. Some guys who can actually play the game in key positions

Now, we just need someone who can actually coach them to get the job done - we've had 1 bloke who could do that in the past 7 years, but unfortunately he was also amongst the worst personnel recruiters, and followed on the bad work started by Hagan in that regard.

Ironically Ricky is the one who turned it around - fortunately he's gone before he could stuff it all up next year again!?!?

What plenty of guys on here are forgetting is there is a salary cap.
So having a wing or centre on huge coin can be damaging to rest of squad.
Fact is you can get a guy like morgan for im guessing less than 200k.A guy like Inu/matai for around 250K.200-300 k gets you a quality centre.
A fullback or halfback or hooker for instance is a major part of the team. The difference between a Mk and a Jake friend/segyaroo would be HUGE to the way the team goes.
Price wise im guessing around 200k more. Yet the team gains a lot more than if had a hoppa rather than say a Matai.
Melbourne proved it for many years. And thats why i wouldnt be too concerend if he wanted out.Its not like we got him on the cheap. We have paid thru the nose

Why? Do you want another wooden spoon next year? We need all the help we can get to pull us out of the mess we're currently in and our other recruits are only just a bit of a step up from what we had running around this year. I see what you're saying in regards to the overall balance of the squad and ideally we'd be in a position where we can plan like that, but the club is bloody desperate at the moment.

5. Morgan

6. Norman
7. Sandow

8. Mannah
9. Peats
10. Mossop
11. Smith
12. Tanginoa
13. Lussick

14. MoiMoi
15. Harrison
16. Allgood
17. Loko

With Terepo, Radradra, Kelly?, Pritchard, Jo Paulo, Junior Paulo as back ups.

another spoon would be unacceptable. JT, motivate these clowns and get them playing to their strengths.

Terepo and Paulo as back ups? Please tell me you're taking the piss.

Please tell me that's not Ben Smith you have in 11 either.

so at this stage my team is close bar :

11. ? Harrison?

15. Terepo
16. Paulo

If ben smith isnt going to be in the side why hasnt he anncouned his retirement to free up some cash? if hes fit there is quite a chance he will be there somewhere. as sad as that is. matt prior at 11 would have been handy.

maybe its a good thing we have plenty of options.

For forwards I'd go with:
8 Mannah
9 Peats
10 Lussick
11 Allgood
12 Tanginoa
13 Terepo

14 Pritchard/Kelly/Sef Paulo (choose each week, to give a break to either Peats or Sandow)
15 Moimoi
16 Mossop (not sure he'll be up to NRL starting until half way through the season)
17 Jr Paulo/Loko/Harrison (choose each week, depending what type of game plan we go with)

It's a decent pack under a competent coach, only difference to this year is no Keating or Smith (assuming he retires). Hope Norman goes well and Hoppoate if he comes, it's got to be an improvement on 2012-13.

This is our best starting pack! Smith, Tanginoa and Lussik all are physical in defense. Will set the ton nicely for some hard running off the bench with Fui, jnr Paulo, Loko, Edwards causing damage.

I agree with the JT comment. Too much conservative footy from SK and RS. We got some serious attacking ability, let's play with some risk and flair!
