He has always slowed down at the line whether on the wing or fullback. He only runs at pace when there isn’t anyone in front of him. That’s my biggest gripe with him.
Well he needs a good slap in the head to wake him up or else I would drop him if he doesn't run properly

Fellas if you see a ugly bearded bloke being escorted out of ANZ behind the Southern goal post during warm up at our first game there yell out ITSA,because I can't wait to give it to this f**king embarrassing bunch of flops!!!!
I couldn't watch it as I worked but letting the Warriors score 32 I'm disgusted!!!!

St Merge, Storm and Cows will put 60 plus on us....

I said all off season how Seibs wasn't talking about fixing the defence and he was talking about our new playing style in attack etc....... do they not teach the basics at Harvard????? You can't do anything if you can't f**king tackle!!!!

Also doesn't seem he could pick an interchange either!!!!!

You don't leave Murray off for that long either!!!!

All in all it seems like a shambles and if it's not turned around quickly it will get ugly!!!!

Where has the heart and pride gone for f**ks sake????

Stick a rocket up em.........

Today was such a let down of a performance. What alarms me the most is that the team does not look to have improved at all defensively; if anything we look worse than last year. Surely, it should have been Seibold's number one priority to improve the defence. I've said this so many times on here before that defence is the most important part of footy because it sets the platform for every other aspect of the game to take place. Many people on here are going to point to Adam Reynolds's lackluster performance, Greg Inglis' lack of involvement or Sam Burgess' errors but all of those things are the consequence of poor defence. Its no coincidence that things started to go downhill when we fell a couple of tries behind and that we played our best footy when we weren't chasing the game.

The bottom line is that we've got enough talent in our team; the playing roster is not the problem. Rather, we just need to go back to basics and defend better. Unfortunately this problem is a lot bigger than what I'm making it out to be because there are so many issues that need addressing. Firstly, our line speed is nowhere near good enough; if anything we seem to be moving up slower than what we were last year and this is round 1! Moreover, we are not even halting the momentum of the opposition forwards in the tackle meaning that we are going to tire quicker from constantly having to retreat back the 10 in defence. Our goal line defence is atrocious as well, in particular we seem to have the same communication issues on the edges that we had last year with players flying in and not making a tackle. Finally and most crucially, too many players are making too many bad defensive reads. Adam Reynolds had a shocker but it would be unfair to blame him because there were others.

In summary, based on tonight's performance we could be in a battle for the wooden spoon. What we need to do is to make ourselves hard to beat. We do that by being strong defensively and making teams work hard to crack us open. From there, our attack will flourish.

By the way does anyone know how to access the player stats on the NRL website? Have they gotten rid of them?
Bravo!

@callmack1 I have been talking about our defence all summer!!! He was our defensive coach last year and now he's fully in charge it seems to be getting worse!!!

I think Seibs is a nice bloke like DKOR said too but I think he's out of his depth!!

If we finish say 15th it will show that sacking Madge was the wrong call!!!!

Sam was one of the only forwards on the field that looked like he gave a damn. Without him we would of lost by 50. Crichton and Sutton were absolutely shocking.

The reason Reynolds had such shit defence was because Crichton kept leaving him by himself. He should be playing off the bench.

We have some massive right edge defensive issues and it should be solved by hooking Crichton and putting Sam there. Murray was way too good in his short stint to be left on the bench for so long.

This forum usually goes into meltdown mode whenever we lose, but I don’t think that should be the case. We have a completely new team and the Warriors actually played really well.

It’s a hard one to cop because it should really be marked down as a W, but it gives a good indication to Seibold of what areas we need to fix. This will really determine the type of coach he is.

One thing I do like already is that Seibs and the players have already addressed our issues and said it wasn't good enough unlike last year where we were so in denial.

Although there are some concerns, I'm not sure why everyone is going into a complete meltdown saying there's no positives. We are better than this and must turn it around.

Our completion rate needs to be better too. I was quite impressed with us when we held the ball but we didn't do that enough.

We also need to work on taking our opportunities. If we take all the opportunities, we win that game easy.

Forgot to mention but congrats to Reyno for bringign up 1000 points as well.

Callmack there are no positives,it's the same bullshit lines we have heard so many times before.
You can talk the talk as much as you want, especially when your getting paid to do a better job,but at the end of the day you have to walk the walk.
This mob deserves every bit of criticism coming their way,you can say that our attack has improved,it's more free flowing but if you have to score 7 tries a match to pass what the opposition has scored due to our complete shambles defensively,it means diddly squat!

And the late great Steve Folkes is testimony to it's not the size of a player that matters, its attitude and the size of the heart in a player.
Our attitude and heart is totally f**ked!!

We had some players that hadn't played or trained for some weeks and they will be better for the run.

I think Gagai to fullback, Hunt to the centres, Sutto to the bench, better ball control and some decent refereeing will see a big improvement.

I wouldn’t be moving AJ out of fullback just yet. We would be making the same mistake as last season by making drastic changes to a game that really could’ve gone either way.

Seibold just needs to make a tough decision on GI. It’s either 80 minutes or nothing. We’re doing a St George by wasting a bench spot like that.

The biggest change I’d look at making is moving Sam to 12 and Murray to lock or vice versa.

We'll have to agree to disagree re AJ, he shouldn't have been selected at fullback in the first place imo, need to get him out of there ASAP.

I don’t think you can judge him from 1 round. He was far from the worst player on the field. I would give him a few more rounds there and if it’s blatantly obvious that he cant play fb then move him.
