A good point which is sort-of hinted at in this article is the effect of other fixtures on the Wembley crowd. It suggests the limited time and money of Warrington fans in regards to 2 Catalans away trips + Magic weekend.
But the problem is broader than that - there are simply too many games and too many repeat games.

Warrington has already played St Helens 3 times - April, June, and August (2 weeks ago!).
They will very likely meet again in the finals. If Warrington finish 2nd or 3rd and win their first week game, they will meet St Helens in both a semi final and the grand final. 6 games in 1 year.
This is ridiculous. No one cares anymore. Value comes from scarcity. Who's driving down to London to watch it when the same teams played last week and they'll probably play again next week.

Having teams do 2 trips away to France (and next year you can almost certainly add Canada into it) is pissing away money they don't have. Do the pie and cokes they flog off at home games with 6000 people in attendance compensate financially for an extra trip to Perpignan for 30 players/staff?

It’s a game run on greed and people with little idea on how to generate more income. They believe more games equals more money, after all it isn’t the members of the board who are out on the pitch putting their bodies on the line. If they had their way it would be a fifty one week season with a week off to recuperate.

It's extremely short sighted thinking.
Aside from boring repeat fixtures, the week to week intensity in Super League is very poor. I have no doubt this is a direct result of playing too many fixtures. Players aren't performing to their peak, injuries mount throughout a too-long season, and each game has less importance.

Super League needs a big change, the small tweaks year on year aren't enough to break the malaise the league is suffering.

Just watched the concluding moments of the game, fair dinkum the RFL should really promote just how big of a fan Prince Harry is, he really enjoyed being part of the experience, can't wait to save an hour or two later in the week to take in the whole game.
