Watching a bit of piss take from the media today about the NRL's plans.

I think it's fair to say that no matter what decision the NRL made, it would be considered a wrong/bad move. Whereas whatever the AFL does, is considered the right thing to do.

The NRL/AFL can swap decisions or plans next week, the media will change accordingly.

That 100 indoor. 500 outdoor would be a nice mix. Allows more things open
I think it will be a while before we get to those levels, but I think the 10 people being able to gather will be the next step. The 1.5 metres is going to be around for a long time yet so it makes those larger groups difficult.

The best approach for the NRL is to ignore the media and do what they think is best.

No one will remember these news stories/opinion pieces, but everyone will remember the actual result.

So make your best call regarless of what the journo hacks say.

Yep.

More concerning was the NSW Health Minister claiming he hadn't spoken to anyone in the NRL yet.

Hazard has got a bit too much on his plate to have a sit down with the NRL atm. Though, he did say he would be happy to have a talk with the NRL and didn't seem too concerned the game is planning to start up again in late may.

But you wouldn't get that impression watching the news tonight :/

Compare the pair.

The day the afl suspended it’s season they announced May 31 as the return date, no criticism or skepticism about how they could even come up with a date.

In contrast, the NRL declined to name a date it would return until yesterday, only after the curve has ostensibly flattened & infections had dropped to 1%, and even then kickoff is still 7 weeks away.

You've got all these hacks who've got to write stories. There's no footy to write about, and the players seem to be keeping out of trouble, so they've got to write about something. The AFL have always had media in their pocket. I'd love to know how much it costs them.

It was a mistake to leave so many important stakeholders out of the decision making process.
It makes the NRL look amatureish yet again.

Disagree

The Apollo committee was to come up with a option and present to the ARLC

THEN you take it out to the other stakeholders

And revise if required

Only incorrect process was the public project Apollo announcement before going to the ARLC

Bullshit.

Claiming the TV rights have less value without crowds is hilariously hypocritical.

Broadcasters have scheduled the game for years, with nothing but contempt for crowds, and now suddenly it's a big issue?

Get f**ked.

... as poor as crowds have been at times... there have been crowds.

It is a valid argument for paying less for rights.

But surely it’s about how many viewers tune in so Ch 9 can sell advertising.

The NRL back on would rate big time at present whether there were folk in the stands or not.

f**k off. Is there anything linking crowds to $$ in the broadcast deal currently.

And if so why schedule Thursday night starting at 8.15pm?

Any live sport will rate it's arse off. You think 7 are going to pay the AFL less money when they start up?

The groveling by some on LU and Vlandys to Nine is embarrassing.

Its not BS. The NRL triumphantly claims a restart date and the network broadcasters along with the State Health Ministry publicaly state they dont agree.
Its red face, backdown time again. The NRL are masters of it.

Channel 9 are not a "stakeholder" in our game.

They pay for the privilege of broadcasting it, so they can line their pockets with advertising revenue.

That is the very definition of a stakeholder
