    I think besides appearances, the hype is because we're desperate as fans to have produced a good player. The production line of untalented, small plodders gets interrupted by someone who might actually be good and it's hard not to get your hopes up.

    Yes it has been pointed out a number of times you can't have top players in every position. There's a limit, enforced by a salary cap, circumvented by coaching and culture. I don't understand the obsession with ranking each player.

    I mean, our selling point for a half is Ponga, not who he will be partnering with in the halves. Pass the ball to this bloke half the time and be a genuine point-scoring option yourself the other half.
