Match Discussion: Round 6 vs Sydney @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

So we lose Ponga for 4-6 weeks and lose by 30-40? Is that where we're heading here?

Match Discussion: Round 6 vs Sydney @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

Could it be a more Knights vs Roosters game to have our star player taken out to injury and then shit the bed and lose to an understrength team?

Kalyn's no good. That's our season limping around out there.

Taking the 2 here is such a momentum killer.

Match Discussion: Round 6 vs Sydney @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

I think we played exceptionally well against the Dragons, bar a few small moments - and that we did build into that performance too. I want to see them back it up this week though.

Match Discussion: Round 6 vs Sydney @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

One way or another that's just the nature of the competition yeah. Unless you win the minor premiership, the comp is tight enough that 1 loss will be the difference between making the 8/not making it, getting a home final or not, getting an extra chance in the finals, etc. Every 2 points is...

Honestly if we win this and win it well (as in, put in a good performance, not just limp to a win), we'll have built into the season nicely after a shaky start and I'll start expecting us to be good again.

    2024 R6 Thu - Newcastle 20-22 Sydney @ McDonald Jones

I think both teams have showed some glimpses of hope this year, especially us last week against the Dragons - it was a very composed performance in the wet and comfortably the best of the year. Anyone taking the Roosters lightly on the day risks having their pants pulled down, there's still just...

Match Discussion: Round 5 vs St Geo Illa @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

Well earned this week, was noticably a class above the rest. Gonna be scary if/when he hits top form.

    Sack Adam O'Brien

The answer to all of the above is that it depends on the team and the individuals in it. AOB has taken the fatherly approach to coaching us. He protects and nurtures his players like a father figure. It's the Wayne Bennett model. Does it look daft when we're a rabble? Yes. Have I wanted to pull...

Match Discussion: Round 5 vs St Geo Illa @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

Blows my mind how much he has improved. He's such a prodigious talent, it's criminal how fast Kalyn picks things up. Seeming as though the penny has finally dropped re: doing extras and doing the hard work off the field, the sky is the limit for him from here. Halligan has always been the kick...

Match Discussion: Round 5 vs St Geo Illa @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

I thought he already exploded last year honestly, but yeah he's going good and needs more clean ball for sure. I agree with Rod above that maybe the biggest improvment this year is his defence. He's made some fantastic plays in D. A kid like Bradman, with how potent he was when he hit grade at...

Yes, really not a lot to complain about tonight. Everyone was good in the conditions. If we can complete that high in those conditions, there's no excuses on a dry track.

They've got the depth to cover most of that. You're doing alright when you've got Manu or Suaalii to step in for your origin fullback. Tbh I might even rate Manu over Teddy in the position in 2024. We'll have to aim up, Robbo will be cracking the whip during the week.

    Around the Grounds

Ahhh there's a long way to go in his story and I'm sure it'll pan out ok for him. Having said that, you do see it all too often, a kid has a breakout year or two, takes the big money and flops at their new club. Sometimes you should just stick with what's working.

Match Discussion: Round 5 vs St Geo Illa @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

AOB just said in the press conference there that Kalyn doesn't take days off anymore. You can see it in his footy. Hasn't missed a conversion, killing it whenever given half a chance. He seems to get it now, what it takes to actually be the best.

2 huge plays back to back there from him. Ponga just a genius tonight.
