Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Canterbury @ Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park / Wanngal

Did we even train the past 10 days? We look like we f**ked off to Nimbin and got on the bongs.

Our first set in good ball and Kalyn touches the ball once to kick it. What is wrong with us?

We're just getting murdered in the little things as always. Line speed, enthusiasm.

    2024 R7 Sun - Canterbury 36-12 Newcastle @ Accor

He was purchased to be our replacement for Adam Clune, but then he went on to have an alright 20 minutes in the grand final and the media got super frothy on him. I hope everyone's over it by now, because he's fine as our depth halfback.

Wtf, Dan has been promoted to the starting side? I give up.

Yeah he really cannot defend at all in any respect. Concerning.

    2024 R7 Sun - Canterbury 36-12 Newcastle @ Accor

It is, but for mine O'Brien got himself into this mess by listening to the media with Cogger to begin with, and Gamble never really deserved to lose his spot. He wasn't on fire to start the year, but he was defending well and does a lot of off-the-ball stuff for the team too. He's vocal on the...

    Rumoured Targets 3

Yep, counts assuming he didn't get a minor/major premiership outside of that cheating window. You can't take away the feeling they enjoyed on the day, but you can certainly take it away statistically.

319 games so far... can't remember any sort of minor or major trophy. Has to be up there.

Jesus at least there was some sugar with that medicine... Gamble back in to at least try and aim up against Kikau is the only smart choice. What's going on with Gags? He missed a week recently with a mysterious ailment/personal issue that no-one wanted to comment on too. Hope he's travelling ok.

1999, yup. Adding the minor premiership caveat makes it a tough question to answer. The answer may well be Gags. lol.

    Rumoured Targets 3

Hindy would have to be up there with 330.... although maybe they had a minor in there somewhere i can't remember. edit - nevermind Hindy actually played in their '01 team. Jeez he's an old bastard. lol. 330 games and no premiership though. Closest I can go off the top of my head.

    Rumoured Targets 3

We don't really know the finer points of that, the Dogs may have said he's "free to leave"/unwanted beyond his current deal too - but I would assume he's on around that figure nonetheless. In the $12m+ salary cap world we live in at the moment, it's not exactly a kings sum, but on a whole he's...

    Rumoured Targets 3

In those quotes Fletch seems to be talking about it like the deal is already done. I would strongly doubt it is, but shows you the mentality of someone that has been in the Roosters system. He doesn't expect them to miss their man.

Match Discussion: Round 7 vs Canterbury @ Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park / Wanngal

There's definitely something to be said about it, but i tend to agree with The Axe of Druss that our performances don't really pass the eye/smell test either. You could say that there is a corner somewhere that we've turned in that we're not running out there to get flogged anymore, for sure. I...

    Rumoured Targets 3

Yeah look we'll see what happens I guess with it. At the end of the day, I don't blame Gags/his management putting feelers out, testing value, etc... but to me the end result should really be a year-to-year deal on decent coin. Pay him what he's worth, but the deal length has to be in the clubs...

    Rumoured Targets 3

I think the Roosters have a pretty long history of picking up old blokes they think they can get a year or two value out of though right? Cronk and SBW come to mind as recent examples too. The Roosters have a "premiership every year" mentality. I reckon if they think Gags is their best option...
