    Game Day Edition 1, 2021

Every year I read our terrible round 1 record and think this year it will be different. I tip them and we lose. This year I'm doing something different and that will just about guarantee the sharks will win. Dragons by 6.

He's coming off a bad injury and is on the wrong side of 30. I like Clinton Maynard's idea of re-signing him for like 600k with an option in the clubs favour for the following year worth 750k. If he's not interested, well that is a lot of money to go out into the market.

    Round 1 vs Drags

How many would it need to be for it to be a pattern? 20? 80? Easiest bet of the season is the Sharks to lose round 1.

    Trial team list.

Done a hammy but should be back by round 1.

    Bellamy

Seems crazy to me that they're talking to someone who is currently a head coach currently coaching against us. What if it has some existing impact on whether Morris is re-signed? Can't see Bellamy wanting to come anywhere near us, but I think it would be an huge move.

    OT- Flanno returning

No thank you. He brought us premiership glory and I will forever be grateful. However under him we were saddled with salary cap penalties and the signings in his last year on big coin, Moylan, Woods and Dugan have not proven to be anywhere near what we paid for them. I wouldn't say never, but...

Just on Ferris, is it right he's not in the top 30? I found that very surprising given how well he went in his debut last year and how skinny we are in centres.

I think any club signing him on a 4 year deal is crazy, he's pretty inconsistent and his off field track record isn't great. I'd give him 2 years in a heartbeat.

OT: Chad Townsend, craft beer baron?

State government wasted $20,000 on a clock in a government building in Coffs Harbour and by looking at it you may not even realise it is a clock.

    RTS

Hard to know. Assuming he got his Wolfpack money I expect he has made far more playing rugby league than he has playing union. He certainly has a marketability over and above playing either sport. RTS was probably on close to a million dollars to play for the Warriors. Do you think NZ Rugby...

    McInnes

Encouraging that we're able to attract quality players notwithstanding the coaching uncertainty. Nice to finally get the lock position sorted.

    RTS

If he's going to play for the All Blacks I suspect he would be getting a pay cut. I don't think money is the main motivator for him.

    Pack weight

What are they basing that on? Round 1 pack or full strength? I suspect in each case our starting pack is far from settled.

    2022 Targets

I suspect Fizman was referring to players the storm "lost" or "let go". Loaning out a player still contracted to them probably doesn't count.

    New Signings- Take 2

Don't know if it's been posted anywhere but Scott Sorensen has signed with the Panthers on a 12 month. I suppose Bomber sees people like Teig Wilton who can better file that role and it's hard to argue with him. Who are our backrowers for next year? Graham Nikora Rudolph? Talakai Wilton...

    2022 Targets

It is worth thinking about but I think it is pointless unless we know who the coach will be for 22. That aside I think we will need a strike centre, a fullback and a couple of middles.
