Phil Rothfield- Nine Sydney teams is too many

I can't believe the NRL isn't rushing expansion and adding a team in Perth after they averaged a huge 9k viewers this year, they even sold out a game in Perth! If that's not an indication they could support an NRL club at a time when the NRL owns two clubs and has a financial stake in two...

Game day expenses maybe, doesn't mean they are covering travel & accommodation for NRL clubs participating, I would be surprised if the RFL and NRL didn't contribute

Phil Rothfield- Nine Sydney teams is too many

I blame Wobbie Farah, the narcissist has white-anted the last two coaches, going on three, before Taylor rightly told him to f**k off and his board rightly backed the coach to do the job he has been hired for, hopefully Pascoe has a spine, unlike his predecessors. The WT are a very well...

    Expansion dead in the water

Gallop didn't say anything about club governance and the reason we are dealing with it now is because he didn't.

    Expansion dead in the water

Which is what Smith's focus has been on, or did you miss ever second word out of his mouth being 'governance'? He has been entirely consistent on his views for expansion. Throwing more clubs into the competition while for the last three years we have been putting out fires in the 16 we have now...

    Expansion dead in the water

How is that article saying anything new? Smith has always said clubs have to become sustainable before adding more, yet he also sees there being 18 teams within the next ten years.

Nine agreed to what they had to to keep the rights from going to tender, Saturday night may have been a low priority for Nine and they may be open to letting it go & bringing their costs down on the deal. I think the deal is structured with a fair degree of flexibility, with it reducing if the...

Nine can only resell games to FTA networks, the NRL would have to buy the Sat game back off Nine for Fox to get it back. The Nine long form contract may not have even been drawn up yet so it could potentially be reworked. I keep going back to the press conference with neither Grant or Gyngell...

I would imagine it involves a fair bit of compromise and negotiation and fox sports could make that process difficult if they choose to.

they will know by end of this month. I fear that fox will play games with the draw for next year, they are just as ropeable with Nine as they are with the NRL and I don't think they are going to be open to much compromise during the process.

    Next TV rights deal

Despite all the rhetoric I still expect a deal to be done, if not this year, by next season's kick off, it's in nobody's interest to have it drag on too long.

They have been bagging him and calling for his sacking for three years, which just made the additional pressure they attempted to put on him after the deal was announced to be fairly mundane.
