Games in closed stadia after R1 - considerations

The fox commentators suggested that was being considered. I guess comparative travel time is still a home advantage teams might want to keep.

Surely you get what he/she is saying though. It was made clear in that paragraph. Perfectly healthy is purely metaphorical. No one is perfectly healthy. Seemingly healthy though actually vulnerable is entirely normal.

    News Coronavirus and NRL

When it is killing 1000 people a day, this means there are about (1000/4%) 25000 new cases per day. As it is highly contagious, and each new case is currently infecting about 2.5 more people, this means we are potentially only a week or two off 10 000 deaths a day. And then so many a day that...

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

Well, at least now if it was "open" knowledge the teacher would be suspended pending an investigation (well, should be, and would be if not at a rich elite private school).

    News Coronavirus and NRL

I thought he/she would be more right than your no real affect claim, but I too was surprised how much more right. This is escalating very fast as people realise how more immediate action is much better than later action. In fact, we are probably a week too late, but better now than next week...

    News Coronavirus and NRL

It is the power of exponential growth. This still seems conservative. I imagine once community transmission really starts, doubling per day is more likely in the absence of social distancing measures. And current cases and growth estimates are likely way under the actual figures. Doubling a...

    Matt Moylan Appreciation Thread

Peachey is my all time favourite Shark (maybe add Gallen, Lewis and Ennis to the list in modern times, given what they did for us in 2016). But Simmons didn't let Peachey go.

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

Plenty of "old" rock, blues, and country is full of stuff about stalking, getting with young girls, and forcing women to do stuff you want. It would be roundly slammed if it came out in a rap song today.

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

I've heard some scandalous stories about teachers and students, that were "open knowledge", and have known teachers who have married ex students. But that was a different era. Not saying it was all OK, but pretty clearly now we don't tolerate that sort of thing. Many workers who need to be at...

I know that is "why", I just don't get why that is a reasonable thing.

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

The vast majority of year 12s born in the first 1/4 of the year (first half, even) are 16 turning 17. They'll be 18 the year after high school. The "older" half of the year, born in the second half of the year, are 17 now, about to turn 18, right around their HSC... But I've seen 19 year olds...

    Matt Moylan Appreciation Thread

I'm not sure I've ever seen a dumber footballer than Pomeroy, and yes, I've seen BJ Leilua play. I did love watching him flatten opponents though, even if sometimes it wasn't when he was supposed to. Limmo was a great club man (by all accounts so was Pomeroy), and a decent first grade winger...

So there could be a very tall winger on the market soon....

Exactly. It would drive away sponsors, it would ruin our standing with local schools, and it would invite a player to the club who clearly doesn't give a S**T about his employer (and we have enough of those already...). I can't see how any NRL club that wants to build serious links with...

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

Off topic: Kids are fully stressed by Coronavirus, and not without reason. I try to downplay how seriously it will hurt them, and talk how it may mean a few weeks off school, which they all like the idea of (except Yr 12). But many worry about elderly relatives, parents doing chemo, that sort...

    Harawira-Naera and Okunbor suspended

Which is one of the reasons it is immoral, even if not illegal (and I'm not saying this wasn't illegal). We consider school girls, even if physically mature, to not really be ready for the consequences of decisions like becoming a footy player groupie. Hopefully they will be OK. It is not...

    2020 R1 Thu - Eels 8-2 Bulldogs @ Bankwest

DWZ looking pained over the call, but not actually willing to challenge, obvious fake outrage over the decision. They have to be careful lest they tempt their captains to make a bad challenge.

    2020 R1 Thu - Eels 8-2 Bulldogs @ Bankwest

Interesting that the captain has to say exactly why they think it is a wrong call- had to say no knock on rather than stripped. Does that mean if it is stripped they don't get it? Still, that is a case where the player has to own up and be a bit more honest, and admit they had a poor grip on...
