2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Actually, it was the other way around. Glebe-Burwood led 22-0 after 25 minutes only for Cabra to score 28 unanswered points. Dirty Reds levelled the scores with 6 minutes left when Malakai Houma barged over. Both sides missed field goal attempts late in the game. Brutal game - Ray Lesoa popped...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Glebe-Burwood defeated Hills 38-10 in the RMC match at Crestwood. Big Kem Seru played his first game for the Dirty Reds this season making a number of powerful runs. Penani Manumalealii led the team around nicely, with the Tsikrikas Brothers, Sam Latu and Jesse Marschke all turning in solid...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Glebe-Burwood broke a two-game losing streak with a 32-16 win over Penrith Brothers at Hickeys Reserve. Addison Demetriou proved the difference, grabbing a hat trick and generally troubling the Brothers defence.

I believe it’s Saturday week (June 2) in Dubbo.

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Actually Ben Marschke played today. Got a downgrade on his dangerous throw and didn’t miss a game. His brother Jessie (half back) was forced out due to facial injury picked up last week though. All up 12 players unavailable today which forced a lot of players to play out of position. That said...

    Fijian Wingers switch to Union

Jowasa Drodrolagi played in that same game for the domestic Bati side. He also represented the Fiji Bati in the 2016 Pacific Test match against PNG. So while I certainly take your point about Sau’s loss, Drodrolagi’s retention in league is a huge positive. He is 23 and will almost certainly...

    Fijian Wingers switch to Union

It’s always disappointing when we lose a player to union - all the more when they have started in league. Before the Catalans came along it happened regularly in France. But for every player lost in Fiji there are plenty flowing the other way. Glebe-Burwood have four Fiji-eligible players on...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Only one player sent off for foul play and that was Willis Meehan. No violent incidents this year prior to the Willis Meehan send off today. Kem Seru marched for high tackle in round seven last year but other than that not one one charge laid for violent play last year either.

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Disappointing afternoon for Glebe-Burwood but it should be remembered, they played 43 minutes with 11 players and still almost won. Today will offer up a few lessons for everyone involved, but ultimately they will derive confidence from their performance. Eight players unavailable on top of that...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Don’t forget...huge day for the Newtown Jets with their first free to air tv match at Henson Park in 36 years. If you can’t get to the ground make sure you watch it channel 9 at 1pm. Glebe Burwood play Hills straight after at 3pm (sadly not on TV!).

The club has a number or strong supporters including Club York, Ladbrokes and Garlo’s Pies. Financial base is solid even without big leagues club backing.

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Fair point re St Marys injury toll, although Glebe Burwood have had similar struggles. Kem Seru, Latrell Robinson and Jokotama Dokonivalu haven’t played yet this season (paternity leave/injury), Jackson Garlick hasn’t played since round 1 due to a sternum complaint and Ray Lesoa and Charlton...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

He’s played two games for Glebe-Burwood this season, the 58-10 round 3 RMC win over Wests and the 40-10 win over Macquarie Scorpions the week before in the NSWRL Challenge Cup. He’s been a standout in both matches, particularly against the Scorpions. He’s played in the centres, although he...

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

Actually i believe it’s Ben Marschke who was named as 18th man for Newtown. Ben Mathiou is 18th man for Glebe-Burwood only it would appear.

2018 NSWRL Senior Comps - ISP, Flegg, RMC, Shield

He’s also be named as 18th man for Glebe-Burwood against St Marys on Saturday. He played well for Belrose. Couple of mistakes but regularly bent the line when he hit the bail up.
