    Sack Daniel Anderson

I thought it was heaps btr than last year... Manly were unlucky with a lots of calls, unfortunately. Is break in the plays that horrible? You will never get a game referred both perfectly & instantly. I think the captain's challenge sounds like a good start for next season.

Other sports are laughing at us

The calls were pretty horrendous. To be honest I was worried for Manly before the game, clearly playing to the Roosters supporter base...

    West Coast Pirates Bid News

Thanks for the enthusiastic report Perth Red. Good to hear.

NRL encourages television broadcasters to do things differently for 2014

The product is still awesome; shoulder charge or not. Its all on Channel 9 FFS: 1. Commentators are sh!t. 2. Broncos monopoly on friday nights is sh!t. 3. Footy show is sh!t. 4. SD is sh!t. 5. Delayed games is sh!t. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: 6. Channel 9 CEO is sh!t.

Why little mention of the CQ NRL bid?

Superficially Sharks -> CQ makes sense to me. Add a Western Corridor/Ipswich bid and QLD is segmented rather neatly, with each club having its own territory to maintain NRL dominance for the entire state, not localised patches. Don't think anyone can argue with reanimate regarding club...

League finally learns to kick with right

No doubt. AFL has grown quite fat from sucking on the governments teet, it won't just roll over. Masters hinted at their possible manoeuvres in the last paragraph of the article.

League finally learns to kick with right

As long as politicians are happy to spend public money on their own private whims then the NRL would be foolish not to put their hand out alongside the rival codes. It's pork barrelling and both sides are guilty, (though the ALP are more susceptible to it as they seem well comfortable with...

There is home in Dave Smith yet.

    Crowd Watch, Part III

Good point. Shame it will be lost on the panic merchants in this thread.

Send off vs Going on Report

Don't pretend to know the reasoning behind current rules so correct me if I'm wrong: But would it be better if a player was sent off (5/10 minutes whatever) at time of incident, no judiciary etc instead of putting incidents on report? For example, JWH tonight, obviously led with the...

    Brisbane Bombers Bid

Whats that got to do with Bombers? And why are they celebrating a trial match between two interstate teams in a League heartland?

    Brisbane Bombers Bid

Here. Here. The whole bid seems like it was conceived and is sustained by one man's ego. Craig Davison has seen an opportunity for expansion as an excuse for him to exploit he's business connections & apparent business acumen for personal glory and reward. If I was the NRL I would be trying to...

    Paul Gallen vs Brian Smith

And to think R.Stuart is out there, somewhere, beaming with pride at how much of a thin skinned sook Gallen has become.

What is the purpose of expansion?

QFT. What's the phrase D. Smith uses when talking about expansion, oh thats it "National footprint".

    Sydney's North Shore

But that's precisely the point; we now have the ARLC to decide the future direction of the game - not any single bid. The ARLC will rather: wait for a bid like Perth & West Brisbane to be ready than let a bid like CC in. In fact I believe the readiness of the CC bid will actually work...

    Crowd Watch, Part III

Good point the crowd difference are not marginal but if the trend continues.... Only a couple of years ago the Storm were playing at Olympic Park, with the some of the best footballers in the world getting an embarrassing sub 10k crowd on regular basis...

    Sydney's North Shore

I think you make a lot of sense reanimate. The NRL needs to be step in with an overarching strategy for North Sydney that all parties can get behind. Easier said the done obviously :-) For the Bears to defer to the Eagles, and for the Eagles to be awarded the plunder of the Bears junior base...
