    Classic matches and observations

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqxl8iKGMys This match from 1994, between Canterbury and Canberra on Easter Monday is, what I feel, is a classic match. A very top quality contest between what eventually would be the two teams in the grand final that year. Thankfully, there was none of this...

As Round 22 is about to come to an end...

What would you say have been the top 5 games of rugby league this year (you may also include test match and state of origin matches, if you want)?

Most attractive female leaders of countries

Now, obviously, we know that there are very few countries in the world, where either the Prime Minister or President of that country is a female. However, of the few that exists, I ask you guys what you think of the current president of Argentina? (who is 55 years old). Her name is Cristina...

    Willie Mason phonecall

Has anyone heard the phonecall yet on the Daily Telegraph website? It was pretty clear the caller tried to bait Willie there.

http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/news/sonny-bills-nrl-legal-bombshell/2008/07/28/1217097150152.html I don't know how you expand that link, so you can post the whole article here, but here it is anyway.

    Oh, what a beautiful sight!!!

Just watching the league on Ch9, fulltime whistle sounded and all the kids and rugby league supporters of both teams ran onto the field to meet their heroes!! A shame they don't do this more often. To me, what I just saw epitomised the spirit and passion of what rugby league is all about. :D

    Round 24 fixtures released

I don't know if this has already been posted, but here are the dates for Round 24. Games highlighted in bold are Ch9 matches, and the Wests Tigers/Manly and Bulldogs/Parramatta matches are played as a double header at ANZ Stadium (for the first time in a few years at ANZ Stadium, since the last...

    Japanese Game Shows

Now, I know that the prizemoney on game shows in Australia is substantially a lot more than those in Japan, but there's no doubt that when it comes to who has the most insane and craziest game shows, Japan wins hands down. Take a look at some of these: "Treadmill Madness"...

Looking back at the Origin series...

to the NSW fans, which 17 would you have picked for the NSW side (based on form and the best NSW side, rather than 'reputation', like what has been happening in the last few years)?

    Sunday games

Two questions: 1) As you know, the kickoff time of Sunday games pre-1997 was 3pm. In 1997, ARL kept 3pm kickoffs, whereas Super League went to 2:30pm. From 1998-2000, Sunday games kicked off at 2:30pm. In 2001, Sunday games kicked off at 2pm, and the 3pm kickoff was reintroduced back to the...

    Holiday question

Okiedokey. I'm going to spend 3 days or so in Melbourne, leaving in about 9 hrs time. Any suggestions as to things to see and do whilst in the Southern State? Thanks. PS I've never been to Melbourne before, but have heard lots of good things about it.

    Do you think pre-SL...

when there was no television coverage of the majority of games per round (excluding the Sat arvo game on ABC and the Fri Night/1 Sunday game on Ch9 and before them, Ch10), do you think there was more of an incentive for fans to go to the games back then, especially if their team's match wasn't...

To all those long supporting Raiders supporters..

I know people remember the famous 1994 Canberra/Newcastle clash at Marathon STadium (where Brett Mullins scored 4 tries in their 52-16 romping of the Knights), but I was wondering if anyone remembers the Canberra/Newcastle match played earlier in the year at Canberra Stadium, where Ruben Wiki...

What ever happened to Multicultural Easter Monday???

In 1993 and 1994, the Bulldogs played Parramatta and Canberra respectively, on what was referred to as Multicultural Easter Monday. Both of those matches at Belmore Sports Ground got two of the highest crowd attendances ever at that ground (27,804 in 1993 and 24,629 in 1994). Here are...

    Possible NRL CEO candidate?

I know that a lot of ppl don't like David Gallop as CEO, but if the competition was completely independent of News Limited, how do you think Dennis Fitzgerald from Parramatta Eels would go as NRL CEO? Do you think he'd make the ultimate CEO? What would happen to the NRL if he was in charge of...

    with the current fixture scheduling...

on average, of 6 live games (5 on Fox, 1 on Ch9) per round, do you think this is good for rugby league or not? Do you think they should minimise the number of live games shown per round, or should they make it so all games are live per round? And also, what about the concept of showing...

    Traditional clashes on Public Holidays

I know the Roosters and Dragons play on ANZAC day, but do you think there should also be traditional clashes played on Easter Monday and the Queens Birthday Holiday (in June)? If so, which teams would you have playing on those days? With all three of these games being played in afternoon and...
