New York pro rugby league team

Or you could combine our efforts to expand in France with our efforts to expand in North America and create a conference to SL that way? We have a small group of French clubs in the mix (Catalans and Toulouse already, with Avignon, Carcassonne/Aude and Villeneuve/Aquitaine looking to join). We...

    Tv deal impact on expansion

Brisbane 2 (why not the Bears brand?) NZ 2 (Orcas) Relocate Wests Tigers to Perth (the name already makes sense) on the proviso that the teams they play H&A are all Sydney sides so their fans can still watch them at least 9 matches a year in Sydney.

How would FIFA-style qualifiers look in Rugby League?

Unlike football, the gulf between the best and the worst in rugby league is far greater. Putting Tier 1 nations against Tier 4 nations is just going to be a massacre. A stacked system over four years is what is best at this stage of international development IMO. But I agree that everyone...

Is it time for a full scale boycott of News Ltd papers?

Rocket surgery is much better than rocket science and brain surgery. About equal to brain science though ;)

    Conferences

If they're going to change the format, go with a world format for the play offs. It would increase the price of the NRL deal in Europe by making it more relevant to fans up here as well as sponsorship rights. 4 x 5 groups in NRL: NSW Division: NSW North - Newcastle Knights, Manly Sea Eagles...

    NZ Expansion

Won't the league make more money altogether if it is a more intense competition? A second NZ team has more chance of maintaining that if it can bring in more players than the other options.

International RL 'nicknames' - England ?

England don't have a team nickname. At the RLWC 2013 opener, the nicknames of all the clubs were on inflatable rugby balls inside the Millennium Stadium... except one and that was England. In fact, no major English national teams have official nicknames that I can think of. "Three Lions" for...

Italian Split & new Rugby Partnership facts - independent articles

Under no circumstances should the official governing body of rugby league be the same as rugby union. If CONI don't recognise that they are separate sports, it's up to the world and European bodies to make a case, not give in to their stupid demands like in UAE.

    English lower leagues

What is it that Canada are looking to gain from this? Are they looking for greater competition? Media presence? Or entry into Super League? They must be after something they can't get by simply increasing their local competition or joining the USARL?

Toronto-based club in British League 1 in 2016?

http://www1.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/12196/9838724/barrie-mcdermott-canadian-team-would-boost-league-one Causing a bit of a stir over here. Apparently it's all but confirmed! Any news from our Canadian friends on here?! Could this lead to USA teams coming over?!

Clubs fear NRL can’t afford to expand

If they're going to relocate any of the Sydney Clubs, surely it would make sense to relocate Wests Tigers to Western Australia? They wouldn't even have to change the brand!

Clubs fear NRL can’t afford to expand

Could they not demerge the Dragons and have Cronulla-Illawarra Sharks? (Although it would technically be the Cronulla-Sutherland-Illawarra Sharks, which I suppose would give a cool abbreviation of CSI Sharks!).

    DeMerge Magpies and Tigers

If the Sydney sides don't want to merge or relocate, just change to a conference system, have a Sydney conference of 6 teams and have P&R between a Sydney Premier and Sydney Championship. Let them battle it out on the field. If they struggle, they can always merge after. NSW Conference...

    USA "what"

I really hope they don't go with that. It sounds more like a tag line than a nickname. Hull FC are known as the Black and Whites. Hull KR the Red and Whites. Wigan the Cherry and Whites, etc. That isn't really an adaptable nickname, it's just an affectionate tag line to the club. Bald Eagles?

    USA "what"

I like the All Stars name. You can market it along the lines of the All Blacks. Stars and Stripes would not distinguish the side from any other USA related marketing. It's just so incredibly generic USA. All Stars usually refers to "the best" players (any side named the All Stars tends to have...

    an american nrl club

Would be more realistic for an American side to join SL surely? It's a lot closer and the standard and salary cap would be much more achievable. I'd love to see a four team North American conference and four team French conference as part of a Northern Hemisphere Super League! Pipe dream I know!
