Next TV deal discussion 2028 -

Given there are existing contracts in place with other sports I don’t see much changing. They may look to cut costs from production though.

They can buy international rights to those sports without buying foxtel, in fact that’s exactly what DAZN do… Murdoch is famous for knowing when to get out of a business. The short term value in foxtel is the cable, but that’s churning with every year, long term it’s the subscriber base made up...

They don’t need or want to know what RL is. It’s a business, they care about subscribers, that’s it, and a big chunk of the assets value is generated by subscribers for NRL content. They may decide they can’t afford the rights, but they will certainly want them.

Why would domestic rights have any influence on international rights?

With newscorp out of the picture I think Nine, and even paramount, would gain a bit of confidence in potentially securing the rights away from fox. It’s very hard to see the nrl leaving fox if newscorp still own it, particularly given V’landys relationship with them. However, there will be no...

Stooge is right, remember how quick he was to shill for channel 9 during covid when they were trying to bend the game over to gain a reduction in the rights fee? Showed where his true loyalty's lie.

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

The NRL’s revenues are no where near the AFL’s and that’s only going to get more apparent as the afl starts their new tv deal next season. V’landys shit the bed big time with the rights deal and it’s going to cost the game hundreds of millions over the next 3 years. Having said that, he’s...

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

I didn't think you were in it for the fame! I do think readers should know where the information is coming from, even if it is indirectly. I’m probably too idealistic but I think journalistic standards should be just that, standard, and not rise or fall based on expediency.

It is probably something the NRL would have liked the AFR to have acknowledged, particularly given Abdo’s misgivings about their reporting.

I didn’t mean to offend you. Your data is not accurate, which is understandable since you don’t have access to a costly OzTAM subscription and only have what is made publicly available to work with. It’s not a criticism of you, your twitter account is great for fans to get a snapshot of things...

Not even sure this is accurate given the AFL have multiple games broadcast into local markets concurrently on FTA. The broadcasts may be averaging 547,000 but the games aren’t. In contrast, all FTA NRL games are broadcast nationally.

I’m sure you are, but there are better sources of information for a journalist to use, particularly for the fin review. I don’t think you claim to be wholly accurate given you are only using publicly available data, which is now even more limited. I don’t see you cited in this article, are they...

Why is a journo for the afr contacting you for information instead of the networks themselves? You run a twitter account that compiles publicly available data, surely the fin review could borrow Nine’s password for their OzTAM subscription?

    Rumoured Signings

Has Mal done anything but attempt to poach broncos? Fifita won’t be doing any deal longer than 12months to get out of a management contract, so unless it’s his mum they are talking to the wrong person.

    2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

All it is is nine having streaming rights to their fta games so they can put them on 9now as their audiences go digital. Fox will retain streaming rights to all 8 games on kayo, but aren’t allowed to onsell them to Telstra. Nine don’t want people watching on the Telstra app instead of 9now, as...

    News Coronavirus and NRL

Compare the pair. The day the afl suspended it’s season they announced May 31 as the return date, no criticism or skepticism about how they could even come up with a date. In contrast, the NRL declined to name a date it would return until yesterday, only after the curve has ostensibly...
