Cook is 33 and signed until end of 26. You'd assume that'll be the end for him. Liddle is likely to move to the forwards, particularly given what Flanagan said that he's returned bulked up and thinks his best attribute is his running game. KF definitely playing in the halves this year, at least...

    Kyle Flanagan

Don't have a problem with it, really. Was solid for us last year and we felt the hit when he was gone for last few rounds. I think he's definitely seen as a 9/14 in the future - that was the initial premise of his signing.

The club would have to pick up almost Rava and Lawrie's entire freight for this year & next. That is a significant cost & there is no way we would have enough cap to land two players on bigger contracts. Landing someone like Thompson on a 3 year deal would definitely have implications on...

dean young is on a mission

I never said he had. Other than that going overseas or coaching reserves isn't necessarily the pathway for new coaches anymore. Despite the fear-mongering and rhetoric of our own fan base, it's pretty clear SF is doing a good job and there is no indication the club want to move him on and...

dean young is on a mission

Not sure I agree with this. Like all sport the game evolves, you do need contemporary coaches. As we've seen over years and years, the ability to man manage is the key to success and longevity. Coaching a reserve grade team is markedly different to coaching first grade, there is a significant...

LKT is still only 19. I don't think he was even planned to be in the top 30 until next year. Also, Atkinson has actually played a fair bit of half back as a junior and in reserves. While KF had a decent year last year, he was signed to be a back up to Amone and then we he got the arse, he was...

Cook, Gutherson, Holmes & Atkinson. Well done Dargs - it's been a while since I could say that for real

dean young is on a mission

"He's the man," Su'A said. "When he first came in he was very tough and straightforward. I like that style. "I'm pretty close to him now and we have a lot of honest conversations. That was a big reason for my development this year and I feel he'll do a great job [for NSW]. [As a Queenslander]...

I really don't follow this logic. If they did, why did they hire Flanno in the first place & not Young? The same can be said for when they appointed Griffin and not Young.

Well, he may have been baked - how do you know he wasn't? And at what point is SF responsible for the defense. Or for the attack?

Brandon Smith on the bye round podcast was pretty open about having spoken to other teams and not the cowboys. Said he wants to stay in Sydney. Also said he wants to stay at roosters. A really odd interview.

Probably pretty close I reckon. T Couchman is being primed to play through the middle, I think. While R Couchman might be more the one to play on the edge. I wouldn't be surprised to see JDB move back to lock (if we jag a front rower), with Cook getting 25 mins or so there per game too.

I mean he's played 21 games in 4 seasons. He's been a back up at the Sharks for 3. Sure he played well this year - I dont mean to bag him, but clubs haven't been lining up for him & he's been a reserve grader.

Pretty much it. Also clubs can pay a contract forward if they have salary cap deficit for their upcoming season, although i'm not 100% on the amounts they can carry forward. Out of all of this though it is miraculous we managed to shed Hunt without having to pay him out/chip in.

I know he wasn't great for us, or for the Tigers but gee we didn't do him any favours by asking him to play hooker one week and full-back the next. I think he'd go OK as a genuine 14 and for Penrith in the absence of Luai he also provides a left footed kicking option, too.

Hunt is the domino. I know they're loaded for experience and in the cap, but it has shocked me that Souths haven't been linked to Hunt. With the age of Walker & Wighton, their premiership window, if it all, is next season in my opinion. Of all the options for 25, none are ideal, which speaks...

I am not a staunch backer of Lawrie at all. Nowhere in any of my posts have I said I am a backer of Lawrie. I have merely stated that I don't blame the Dragons for resigning him & that he will play first grade in 2025 if we don't sign another forward. In 2022, Jayd'n Sua missed several games...

    The Rumours Thread

Well, he was. It may not necessarily be a reflection of him, but rather the squad at the time. Su’a was ordinary in his first year and wanted to leave, De Belin wasn’t fantastic (not a dig at him) in his first 18 months & Molo produced zilch in his first year. Lawrie was our most consistent...

    The Rumours Thread

Hindsight is wonderful. Lawrie was probably our best forward when he re-signed and was linked to the Rabbitohs and Dolphins. Rava was also our best winger at the time, was (and still is) young and resigning him made sense then. Of all our the clubs ineptitude, I don't blame them much for...

I couldn’t imagine he’d be on a development contract given they’re only worth a max of $100k pa? Unless he has an automatic upgrade or something.
