Official: Redcliffe Dolphins to join NRL in 2023

That does have merit. Though if they are looking to represent the greater Brisbane region, while also representing the Moreton Bay region, they could be called Moreton Yuggera Dolphins. (the greater Brisbane region, including Moreton Bay is Yuggera Country).

    Redcliffe put their hand up

Moreton Gubbi Dolphins, it encompasses the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions (Gubbi Gubbi country encompasses the region from Caboolture in the south, right up to the Burrum River north of Hervey Bay.

    Brisbane Jets

Firehawks, simply because there is no pretence as to where they are going to play their home matches. The other 2 bids are still hedging their bets on where their actual home ground will be. The NRL and broadcasters want Suncorp full stop.

    NRL wants two conference comp

Instead of a Sydney and Non Sydney Conference system, maybe have a Northern Conference - Cowboys, Broncos, Brisbane2, Titans, Knights, Either Roosters or Tigers, Manly, Eels and Panthers. The rest make up the Southern Conference. You will still have Sydney derbies. Not too sure about the...

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

Just some Hypothetical possibilities on utilising the bye rounds in a 17 team competition mate. I also don’t think fair has anything to do with NRL match allocations. So if you will excuse me, I better go and get some drugs.

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

So are you suggesting that backing up on a Thursday night after a Sunday game (3 days break) is no different to having a couple of extra days break (5 days) if you played on the Friday night, the previous round. I know whose on drugs, and it’s not me.

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

There has been concerns/talk that having one extra team “for a 17 team competition” does not increase broadcasting revenue “still only 8 games per round” so what’s the point. Well what it does is, it creates a situation where the team that has the bye round should then play “first up” on the...

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

The “possible“ build of a 50,000 seat Olympic stadium at the Mayne Rail yards, Bowen Hills would tick all the boxes as far as public access is concerned. Every Trans Link rail network passes through Bowen Hills Station. The AFL would be mad not to look on with interest. I can’t see it being an...

    Redcliffe put their hand up

Moreton Gubbi Dolphins - A recognition of the Gubbi Gubbi people and COUNTRY which extends from Caboolture in the south, encompassing the whole Sunshine Coast region, and to its northern borders of Childers. The Moreton region is their home/training base at Dolphin Stadium. Kawana Stadium on the...

Brisbane Bids Club Mascots - ROUND 2 FIGHT!!!

2 x Perth teams = a potentially Super Saturday broadcasting program every weekend during the regular season with 4 games back to back. Scheduled off Eastern Standard Times 3 pm - game 1 5 pm - game 2 7 pm - game 3 9 pm - game 4 in Perth ( 7pm local time)

    Brisbane Jets

Yes, North/West v South/East rivalry covers all regions of the compass. Therefore by virtue of their location, the Firehawks may just have the upper hand.

    Rank the Brisbane bids

Bombers and Western Corridor were more than likely 3rd and 4th in the bids process. And with only about 4 mths until the successful Bid team is named, their only realistic option was to merge to remain viable. For starters Brisbane Jets (With hopefully a similar jersey to the Ipswich Jets)...

    TWO new Brisbane teams

Yes they are, currently. Though not sure if it’s going to be a long term home.

    TWO new Brisbane teams

The most likely scenario, is only one extra team in SE Qld. Which must play their home games out of Suncorp Stadium i.e. the Firehawks. What needs to be addressed though, is a football specific boutique stadium for the Brisbane Roar A league team. Suncorp should be a League and Union specific...

    TWO new Brisbane teams

If you were to add 2 SE Qld clubs to bring it up to an even 18 team NRL competition with no bye rounds. 1 Brisbane Jagera Firehawks (Langlands Park) to play out of Suncorp Stadium with maybe a couple of home matches played at Ipswich. If anyone is wondering, Jagera Country encompasses the whole...

    Rank the Brisbane bids

1 Brisbane Firehawks. Main reason being, ideally situated home/training base at Langlands Park being approximately 7 klms from Suncorp Stadium, where they will play out of. Historically a strong established Southside club (Brisbane/Eastern Suburbs Tigers) which will give balance to a North side...
