I know its probably to late

Seeing as the Dogs wanted to make the decision last week rather than wait to see if the venue was available, the timeframe must be important to them - it makes me think that moving it now might be logistically difficult. If it isn't, then why not? It'll be win-win.

I know its probably to late

No, I don't think I did say that. Obviously with the benefit of hindsight I'm sure SA would much rather have chosen the Bulldogs and had games on in both weeks; but having an even bigger crowd a week later will be of some consolation to them I'm sure.

I know its probably to late

... and good on the Swans! Actually it will be in Sydney in two weeks time rather than next weekend. Yeah, the joke's certainly on SA now! Except it's likely to guarantee an even bigger crowd for Sydney v Adelaide or Brisbane for a GF berth against probably Collingwood.

Ken Edwards says AFL above NRL

Yes, I've read a lot of your posts on a few different fora but I've not posted before. So... let me recap. You don't care who I am, but until you find out you don't want to address any of the counterpoints I raise to your argument? It's a bit of a strange sort of not caring, but whatever...

Ken Edwards says AFL above NRL

I don't have another nickname, but I can see how convenient it is for you to say that I do.

Ken Edwards says AFL above NRL

Well, who are you exactly Moffo? Not really. Pretty small I would expect. But I would expect around the same number of Swans fans to turn out for the game as turned out for the game against Collingwood. 72,000 at that game, and you can't tell me (well, you might but it would be...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

Ah, well, that appears not to be the case if the SA boss is quoted correctly in this article. note: Tuesday night note: Wednesday morning

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

Phew, that's a relief! Now we can all calm down, eh? In other words, a great big fuss about nothing.

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

OK, fair enough. It's still not a small amount. Sure. SA want to have both the NRL and AFL playing there, though, as the AFL's now proven it can draw very large crowds to the ground. Which helps pay SA's bills. c35,000 won't pay those bills as effectively. That's what this whole thing boils...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

$1.4mil is $1.4 mil, mate. That's $1.4mil that the NSW taxpayer didn't have to fund. It's not a small amount of money. And combined in that was a commitment by the AFL to play a certain number of games as SA. As much as you may not want it, SA wants the AFL at SA because it pulls a...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

Of course they didn't need to. But the fact remains that the AFL has a sizeable stake in SA and resultingly SA is not obliged to go with the NRL when there's a clash. Perhaps they should move some of the semi-finals there, it'd be extra competition for the Lions and there'd be no scheduling...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

Sure. But you may be unaware that the AFL contributed a very large sum of money ($1.4mil) to Stadium Australia during its construction back in 1997 to ensure that it included the ability to be reconfigured for Australian Football post-Olympics. It was a pretty far-sighted investment that the...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

A great deal, seeing as the AFL put more money into SA than the NRL did in the first place, and obviously SA want to be able to play both NRL and AFL matches there in the future so that they can maximise the use of the ground. If the NRL's that upset then they should withdraw their support of...

Who are all the sponsors at Telstra stadium?

So you're saying that they should play a game that's likely to draw 30-40K rather than a game likely to draw 60K+. Why? What's in it for Stadium Australia?

Ken Edwards says AFL above NRL

I'm astonished at the level of hysteria surrounding this decision. Especially from someone like Moffo who claims to have studied sports administration. Stadium Australia is a commercial operation, they exist to make money, something they've not been overly good at recently. They need to get...
