Newtown Jets 32 defeated Bankstown Bulls 28. It was 32-16 with 5 minutes to go. 3 pts - Ray Moujalli 2 pts - Rohan Ahern 1 pt - Tu'U Maori Liam Foran was very solid on debut at half-back. If only we could play like that at Henson Park! Hopefully next week vs CC Storm.

Newtown 26 defeated Auckland 24 16 points in the last 14 minutes to steal a memorable victory. It wasn't always pretty but we're finally away for 2009!

    balmain trial

Not sure what you saw but SG Ball beat Wests 44-22 to remain unbeaten after 2 rounds. Our NSW Cup side ended up losing 32-14 (or thereabouts) to a Balmain Ryde side that included Josh Lewis. At one stage it was 14 all before the Tigers scored a flurry of late tries. That said it was an...

Dear RL1908, Were you involved in the George Green medal debacle?

    9's tournament

Millard showed glimpses and was pretty elusive in the games I saw. Among the best players were a bulked up Khalid Deeb as well as the ever reliable Jimmy Andersen. All in all there appeared to be quite a bit of talent on show. If the Chooks stay fit we should go well again this year.

    Ben Jeffries??

It is him and as a back up half back he is a great signing. As Tiger Nick says he has a great kicking game and playing in a much stronger side than when he was last at the club, he'll more than hold his own. Looking at the squads on the NSWRL forum, Balmain Ryde are going to be very hard to...

Jets best player since yr 2000

As per Jeffles suggestion, Traddy is the man. I bought one at the Newtown Festival. It certainly highlights the fact that PL should be shown on either Foxtel or the ABC like the QLD Cup. Good luck getting one, it's fantastic to watch.

Jets best player since yr 2000

After viewing the 2005 Newtown Try Highlights DVD I would like to make one change to my best ever team: Whilst he didn't always give 100% and had the ability to make STUPID mistakes, I'd have to have Cliff 'Horse' Manua off the bench in place of Tere Glassie. Sticking with Cooper in the...

Jets best player since yr 2000

I was actually struggling for centres and didn't want to pick Beau Scott even though he is probably way more deserving ..... I thought Cooper did OK Who would you have in the centres?

Fair call, but in terms of the best players in their positions, they have all played NRL!?

Jets best player since yr 2000

I started supporting in 2001 so have deliberately not included any 2000 players. 1. Nathan Merritt 2. Ben Cook 3. Dustin Cooper 4. Russell Richardson 5. Alf Duncan 6. Troy Barnes 7. Craig Field (c) 13. Phil Leuluai 12. Keith Galloway 11. Bilal Najjarin 10. James Stosic 9. Kevin Kingston 8...

    Wests Tigers Abandon Wests PL

After blowing 11 million in the first two years, ultimately Wests Tigers are owned by News Ltd. From what I have heard Wests Ashfield don't care about PL anyway!? I look forward to Newtown giving Marsden's Magpies a right royal bluebag caning at Henson in 2006. Up the Jets!

The Trevor Ryan – Neil Pringle Shield is up for grabs this Saturday. The Newtown and Balmain Rugby League clubs, two of Australia’s 1908 foundation clubs, compete on an annual basis for the Trevor Ryan – Neil Pringle Shield, honouring two iconic champions who played with distinction for both...

Old Souths Matches to be screened

I've just heard that there will be a new Rugby league program on Fox Sports next year. Its called The Greatest Game of All and will be hosted by 2SER's Rob Corra. Its a documentary program that looks back at old games of league. Sounds like a great show, can't wait to see Souths beat Brisbane in...
