This League vs Rugby crap is exactly that.

Anyone that has a go at someone elses game as being for "pussies or twigs or girls" or whatever should put their hand up and say "yeah, I'll hit the ball up from the kickoff/try tackle Jerry Collins." Bollocks you would and if for some reason i.e. your frontol lobe was missing, bet you couldn't do it for a whole game let along a season with any sort of success and without balling your eyes out in secret when you realised your masculinity had been uncovered for what it was. Not much thicker* than the screen your hiding behind.

*Apologies to those who can't or haven't (fiscal reasons or not) upgraded to a flat screen.

Them Luke and SBW were the only NZ players trying all the time...
They did have a go, but in reality Cayless is getting old and just doesn't have the impact for a starting prop - compare him to Asotasi and you will see what i mean. Its time to give a few younger guys a go - Jesse Royal for instance.
Halatau has been ordinary for a few years now, replace him with Seu Seu a go once he gets a few games under his belt, or let Luke play the whole game.

Issac Luke should have never been taken off.

I would rather SBW come off the bench after 15-20.

Such a dissapointing game for such a massive build up.

good try late on by NZ....

but all in all it was still no different to the test series against GB last year, still no creativity in the halves, forwards showed plenty of heart but as a team they are prone to lapses in which the opposition run in 2,3 or 4 tries..

There was a difference imo, and to say there wasn't is quite simply wrong.

Last year's squad would have lost by 50+. Although I take your point about lack of direction in the halves, and the inability to stop a run of points by the opposition.

Fact is, we were 22-0 down after 20 mins, lost Asotasi to injury, and managed to dominate the rest of the game. Kiwi fans can take some heart from that. (although at the end of the day I agree, with the current halves combo we will never beat Australia)

The main issue is that we have no halves...we also need a gamebreaker in the backs that can bust the line and this is the difference with Aus.

Gasnier was all over our backline.

You honestly believe the Kiwi's dominated the rest of the game? From what time did this happen? I seemed to have missed it.

i actually thought it was alot better than the GB series... they had no heart last year... they actually showed some steel which was good to see.

i hope Bennett stays with them... i saw alot of structure around the ruck which i havent seen from them for years. they looked really good when they were playing direct. reminded me alot of queensland actually... then they got to the halves and fell to bits.

heres hoping benny roberts has a strong season for the dogs and maybe someone like rangi chase can really come on as well...

I agree Joel.

Luke and Halatau should play at the same time.

Not the thrashing everyone expected, NZ dug deep tonight thats all we can ask.

Suprisingly Halatau was carving when he came on. One of his better games for the Kiwis. Undoubtedly Luke will be the next long term Kiwi hooker, but he showed in that match that he's still got a thing or 2 to learn.

yes. NZ dominated possession and territory pretty much from the time Australia went up 22-0... with a decent halves combo NZ could have given Aus a real fright.

Dominating possession and territory does not equate to dominating the game. Having more points on the board does.

Anyway, Australia were pretty much able to hold NZ out at will. Wasn't for a great solo try and one at the end.

They put the points on the board then dominated in defence. That's class.

He had the same impact as Asotasi tonight For as long as he was on the field..

Halatau went well when he came on for luke like every other poster has said...
