Effnic are you kidding me? Get over it mate. Ofcourse we are going to be confident going into the game. Why wouldn't we? It's the finals theres no point of fearing any opponent. I was actually going to post something along the lines of Manly supporters being amongst the best on these forums but then you poke your gigantic head in here and get all sh*tty over nothing.

Bring this game on, I'm heading out there and look forward to it. May the beat team win.
There are some of you like yourself who seem to be on this planet, but deadset most of the dragons fans posts i see have been just plain geniused.

Gee i wanna win this game more than ever now, i never realised how bad dragons fans are, it has been the worst week dealing with these idiots. It is reminding me of the 2005 finals series when the only game they cared about was the gf and they didnt even make it that far. Bunch of arrogant pricks.
all d manly supporters have been good only u effnic has been a genius.most of us dragon supporters dont mind manly supporters and if u guys did beat us most of us would like manly 2 go all the way. so stop being a f wit.

Gasnier must get the ball: Raper

BY MICHAEL COX
12/09/2008
http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/.../gasnier-must-get-the-ball-raper/1270200.aspx

St George legend Johnny Raper has some simple instructions for the Dragons in their sudden-death semi-final against Manly tomorrow night - get the ball to Gaz.The rugby league immortal believes St George Illawarra have the overall strike power to upset the powerful Sea Eagles line-up at Brookvale Oval.
But he says for the Dragons to do so, they need to utilise the sublime attacking skills of departing centre Mark Gasnier at every opportunity.
"When he wants the ball - then you give him the bloody ball. Don't muck around," Raper said.
"When the backs call for the ball, get it there straight away - plus we've got very good finishers outside of Mark."
Raper is a big fan of Gasnier and he says the dynamic ball-runner will leave a huge hole in the Dragons line-up when he departs for France.
"He's a very strong running back who can change a game," he said. "I think he's a very strong player and we'll undoubtedly miss him.
"He will be hard to replace, that's for sure, he'll be very hard to replace."
While giving Gasnier opportunities to show-off his dazzling footwork and game-breaking ability was key, Raper said a team effort was required tomorrow night.
He said the Dragons had the ability to win the semi-final but needed to pull together.
"They've got to play as a team and not as a bunch of individuals," he said. "They've been guilty of that at times this year - relying on certain players."
The only way Gasnier could be slowed down tomorrow night, Raper said, was if he had a reoccurrence of his back injury.
"I expect him to go well - if he's fit he'll have a big game. But I don't think he'd play in this game if he wasn't fit, he's a pretty sensible footballer. I don't think he'd take the chance of letting his side down."

I hate that simple give it to Gaz advice. Every started screaming it, then he started to get to ball, & f*ck all happened.

Gaz is at his best when our forwards are playing well, and it's much easier to get him in a one-on-one situation.

Hope he has a blinder tomorrow.

If we had an under six team that handed the ball around until someone runs, that advice would be super, thanks Johnny.

Other than that, I'd hope the forwards did their job first.

I'd be going the other way and getting the ball to Cooper as much as possible...

A couple of tries for Cooper this weekend...

Dragons must show up...everyone considers them a title contender, and with the way they have played after a slow start to the season suggests that this is true.

Their performance last week in the wet was poor, but to be expected I guess. It should be a dewy night at Brooky tomorrow, they must do the fundamentals well, otherwise all this 'Dragons are a legit contender' talk will become a huge myth.

As a Warrior fan, I hope that there is only one upset in the 2/7 and 1/8 games, so obviously I'm hoping it's not this game, as lightning won't strike twice...surely not.

Dragons have won from 7th before, but the 2001 Bulldogs were a bit of a rabble by that stage, and the 2002 Knights lost Joey Johns.

Manly by 4.

Bring back the biff

11 Sep 08 @ 09:30pm by JASON AVEDISSIAN

http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/bring-back-the-biff1/

MANLY premiership winning captain Max Krilich is calling on the Sea Eagles pack to ``not pussy-cat’’ around against the Dragons at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night, declaring the club must: ``do what St George did to Melbourne’’.
Krilich believes the Sea Eagles should employ the same tactics that the Dragons used in their highly controversial July 21 clash with the Storm in Melbourne. The joint-venture club threw everything at the premiers, including many punches, before they came unstuck when prop Jason Ryles was sent-off for kicking.
Krilich now believes Manly must revert to similar tactics in their bid to eliminate the Dragons from the 2008 premiership.
``Manly have got to do to St George what St George did to Melbourne,’’ he said on Thursday night.
``You’ve got to be very strong without being over the top and giving away penalties. They have got to display controlled aggression and zero in on them in tackles like St George did against Melbourne.
``It’s a very fine line. But if you want to pussy-cat around, you’ll get hammered.’’
Another Sea Eagles premiership winner, Mark Carroll, said the onus was on Anthony Watmough.
The former NSW and Australian prop has been highly impressed with Watmough’s performances over the past fortnight and says it’s up to the tough second-rower to lead the pack.
``It’s great to see Watmough has pulled his finger out the last couple of weeks,’’ Carroll said.
``He’s the one who’ll run at them all night. It’s semi-finals, you’ve got to do whatever it takes.’’
A tactic Manly centre Steve Matai seems likely to adopt.
``We’re going to do anything that will help us win the game and I’m sure they’ll do the same,’’ Matai said.
Prop Josh Perry said the pack will leave nothing in the tank.
``It’s semi-final footy and they will come out firing as we will,’’ the rugged front-rower said.
``We’ve got a lot of self-confidence.’’

Ironman a real pro

12 Sep 08 @ 02:38pm by PETER PETERS
http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/ironman-a-real-pro/

MICHAEL Robertson doesn’t look like an ironman but his amazing record suggests he is just that.

The Manly winger will play his 77th consecutive game for the Sea Eagles in the qualifying final blockbuster against St George-Illawarra at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night.

Robertson is one of just six players who has played every minute of every match this season in the NRL premiership.

In fact, since he debuted for Manly in round two against the North Queensland Cowboys at Dairy Farmers Stadium in 2006, the quietly-spoken flyer hasn’t missed a minute of the action.

That’s 6080 minutes or 101 hours of pressure cooker football.

During that time he has scored 33 tries and rarely been anything but effective and professional in the maroon and white No.2 which he has made his own in the past three years.

Robertson arrived at Manly with a minimum of fuss and a reputation as a promising player in the summer at the end of the 2004 season.

Coach Des Hasler took one look at the lightly-framed ex-Raider and ordered a tough off season of weights and sprint training.

The transformation has been amazing and Robertson couldn’t be happier.

“I needed a change when I arrived at Manly and it is the best move I could have made,” he said.

“I have enjoyed every season and it has been exciting to be part of the club’s return to the top of the premiership.”

With Robertson on the left wing and the “Wolfman” David Williams on the right, the Sea Eagles have two of the most professional finishers in the premiership.

Robertson will line-up against Josh Morris tonight while Williams has the task of handling giant veteran Wendell Sailor.

Both duels should be enthralling contests.

THE NRL struggles when it comes to looking after its own.

Would you believe that Manly legend Steve Menzies only weeks away from ending a magnificent 16-season career didn’t score an invitation to the Dally M Awards.

What an opportunity missed to use the “Beaver” as a presenter to some of the young players in line for an award.

The NRL prides itself on its history but surely Menzies could represent the modern era rather than the same old recycled faces they trot out every year.

It would have been a fitting finale for the well spoken and highly regarded legend.

The Dally M Awards could certainly do with an overhaul.

The concept is great and the award important but the night goes too long.

And whoever is responsible for NRL chief executive David Gallop’s involvement in the unveiling of the progress points tally year after year should be sacked.

Gallop is a highly respected and professional boss but a microphone isn’t his best friend.

GLENN Stewart’s award for the Dally M second-rower of the year was well deserved.

Stewart is looking better every week in his quest to join brother Brett in the Australian World Cup squad to be finalised after the grand final.

He will start his push for an Australian jumper against the Dragons at Brookie. Glenn and Brett Stewart are something of a recurring nightmare for the St George Illawarra club because both are products of the Illawarra, having played all their junior football with the Western Suburbs Red Devils at Wollongong the same club which Manly legend Bob Fulton played for.

The Dragons wanted Brett but not Glenn which was the catalyst for them joining Manly as a teenage package deal.

The Sea Eagles are thinking about sending an annual thank you card to the Dragons.

I'm a Dragons supporter so I had to pick them, but I'm not overly confident. The Dragons can beat Manly, but Manly have been a far more consistent team throughout the season. Despite that, Dragons by 4.
