it's at Brookie not Shark Park but then that hoodoo was put to rest last year.

If Manly hadn't won that night they wouldn't have won there for the next thousand years.

Bad boy at Brookie

EX-MANLY enforcer Mark Carroll believes the Sea Eagles NSW Cup team should make names for themselves and target Parramatta bad boy Tim Smith when the half turns out at Brookvale Oval on Saturday.

An anonymous caller phoned Sydney radio station 2GB yesterday morning to say Smith and other Eels were drinking and misbehaving at a Parramatta nightclub until 4am on Saturday.

The Eels later confirmed some players were there but chief executive Denis Fitzgerald said they have no case to answer.

The incident comes just a week after Jarryd Hayne, Weller Hauraki and Junior Paulo were stood down for Saturday night's season-opener against the Bulldogs after being involved in an altercation in Kings Cross.

Now Smith will return to football, via Brookvale Oval, with Carroll convinced Manly's team should target the troubled former NRL rookie of the year.

"For sure, they should just fire up," Carroll said last night.

"It's an opportunity to show Des (Manly coach Des Hasler) they can play first grade.

"He's been shooting his mouth off, lairing up, they should definitely go after him."

But Manly NSW Cup coach Craig Sandercock said his players would not target Smith.

"There's no time for sledging in the game any more," Sandercock said.

"I'll be telling my boys to get on with the game, if they want to impress Des."

Forwards to feature in the game for Manly may include Glenn Hall and Vic Mauro, among other players who have NRL experience.

Sandercock said the match was an opportunity for his squad to show Hasler they can play NRL.

"It's going to be a good test for them, to see if they are up to NRL standard," he said.

Meanwhile, Todd Carney's manager David Riolo says his client is no closer to making a decision on his future.

The young Raider is considering offers from Manly, Canberra and Penrith. "He does not know what he's doing at this stage," Riolo said last night.

"Manly is a very appealing club, forget about the money side of it, their roster is strong and the northern beaches is a good place to live," Riolo said.

"He's got three really good options, he's just got to work out what's best for him and I won't rush him."
Manly coach Des Hasler will announce the Sea Eagles first team of the NRL season today with the front-row causing plenty of conjecture.

Incumbent Jason King is tipped to get the nod in the starting line-up, with recruit Josh Perry set to make his club debut off the bench.

Hooker Matt Ballin should be named at No 9, with Heath L'Estrange missing out.
In the backs, centre David Vaealiki will start alongside Steven Bell with Steve Matai out injured.

Gates open at 3.15pm.

Manly by 12. On a sidenote....do you have to be a footy club member to still use the Manly forum on their official website?

Spoke to Steve at the fan day he is out until Round 4, had an operation to overcome the neck/shoulder injury that plagued him last year

I have no beef with Maxwell. Who will the commentators be? Im guessing Andy Raymond cause he usually does the 7:30 slot. Not sure who will partner him though, please not tallis.

Could be right Ziggy, I know there will be a upset this round but I just dont know which game to pick, so far my tips are for the home teams. This game will definately be the closest imo but I just cant back the Sharks.

Manly's No 1 Brett Stewart at training

yesterday ahead of Saturday's night

opener against the Sharks.

THE Sea Eagles are set to unleash all three of their representative props in the starting line-up to counter the Sharks monster pack for Saturday night's opening round NRL clash at Brookvale Oval.
Manly coach Des Hasler last night named a predictable squad of 17 to host Cronulla.
Australian fullback Brett Stewart will play after overcoming off-season knee surgery.
Newcastle recruit Josh Perry is also there, named on the bench with Jason King and Brent Kite picked in the starting line-up.
But when Manly's entire squad split into opposing teams at training yesterday morning, all three front-rowers ran together with Kite appearing to run at second-row.
"Yeah, K-Man (Kite) is going to move in and help us out," fellow second-rower Glenn Stewart said after training.
"I don't know the reasoning behind it but I'm happy to have him next to me for sure. A bit of extra size in the side can't hurt."
Hasler gave nothing away when asked about the training formation. "It was just a quick play after the weekend off," he said.
But Hasler did concede he could introduce a rotation policy, or a "horses for courses" system based on their weekly opposition.
"It's something we can probably use," he said.
Adding further mystery and intrigue to Manly's impressive looking starting pack was Kite's belief he would start alongside King.

"I'm going to start in the front-rower, we trialled that way," Kite, who played in the second-row for St George/Illawarra before his move to Manly, said.
"Obviously Josh will be pushing hard for a starting spot at some time this year.
"Me and Kingy worked well last year and hopefully that can continue this year."

Hooker Matt Ballin won the other contentious position at No 9, ahead of Heath L'Estrange with popular winger Michael Bani taking over from Chris Hicks on the flanks.
Captain Matt Orford said the Sharks' pack will be confronting.
"They are going to be really hard and have a lot of size there," Orford said.

"We pride ourselves on playing at Brookie and want it to become a nightmare for visiting teams.
"We are not going to hold back and we'll make it a hard night for the Sharks."
But Orford warned it will take time before his combination with Ballin clicks following the departure of Michael Monaghan.

"It's going to take a few games but I played a few games with Matty last year, so it's just those little calls that Monners and I had," the skipper said.
