Not much separated the two sides in the first period even though the scoreboard reads 16-8.

The Eels are in trouble though as their halves are unfamiliar with both Keating brothers, Kris and Matt, both playing first grade tonight. Speechley and Mitchell, tonight's pairing, have a job ahead of them and must improve their side's kicking game which was abysmal in the opening period.

The Sea Eagles controlled much of the play and scored two tries in six minutes at one point
