The way I see it, the Knights have had calls go their way when they probably shouldn't have. If you have some calls go against you then it equals itself out. A good team will win regardless of how the game is officiated.

Who ever decided to let MacDougall be apart of the top 17 tonight should be blown up at, what a waste especially when we had a forward on the bench who played a game yesterday, that's 2 fresh benchies!

Also Ciraldo did not get much game time and did f$ck all when jhe did.

Great defensive effort for the knights who deserved the win.

Can't believe we won, was a great defensive effort from the boys.

I thought the try to Scott Prince was a tad dubious, but both teams had calls go against them by Mr Badger.

Gidley and Mullen were outstanding, and Scott Prince was great for the Tits.

Stupid Penalty against the Titans at the death the guy didnt know where he was but it was still a penalty quite stupid

Gidley carved the metres well done

no way was that Prince try a try (the try that gave the Titans a bit of a rollon in momentum, when they never looked like scoring). Even all the commentators said that he lost it and was short of the line. This stupid 'benefit of the doubt' rule has gotta go.

Awesome performance Newcastle, I think the scoreboard flatters us a little. Your defence was superb, especially the outside men who were quick to shut us down.

Kurt Gidley - superstar!

Jarred Mullen - I would hate to see him given an Origin call up. He has that something I believe is missing from the other contenders at the moment. Sure he is just came back, though in his only NSW appearance, he wasn't exactly horrible.

Matty Hilder - well, you were played consistently out of position by Conservative Carty and tonight you shone replacing a legend. Well done

Cooper Vuna - wow! I don't take much note of the guy though tonight I (as did most who watched the game) do now.

Yeah, great team effort by the Knights.

Scott Prince looked like a player who hadn't trained all week - his kicking game wasn't on and no, his try wasn't a try IMO.

Preston Campbell was very good again this week. I still would love to see him in the six jersey, though he went well at fullback.

We weren't embarassed, though we were outplayed, out hussled, out enthused.

Hilder was never given a fair enough go at Cronulla either so it's good to see him doing well.

...and I look a goose AGAIN for tipping against us!

You watch I'll tip us against the Storm next week, though not too stupid an idea given half their team will be backing up from the Anzac Test a few days previous, and we'll have Buderus and Simpson back (and possibly Dureau).

Haven't seen the game yet, but from reading some of the comments it sounds like the last couple of weeks have really taken a lot out of the Titans. Especially last Sundays game in the GC heat. Bye coming at a good time.
Still it's been a great run for the Titans, stringing 5 games together. Hopefully after the bye they can get another streak going.

Well played Newcastle, especially with so many key players out of your team as well. Smithy may never coach a winning grand final team, but he does know how to build a team.

I managed to find a PC here on Mokpo and half expected to see us go down. Made my day to see us getting up against the top side on the comp. Smith has, so far, done wonders for what has been a shoddy defensive line for seasons.

surely gidley would have to be considered in the 'superstar' bracket now, he's safe at the back, creates tries, scores them himself, tackles well, kicks goals, makes metres from dummy half, in support, he just does it all.

I actually was dirty we re-signed him a few years back

Easily. He is a genuine superstar in the NRL who's level of play doesn't drop in any of the umpteen positions he can play. Newcastle have a guy who can lead them out of the post Johns/Buderus era.

Most have been impressed with him since he come in to grade. He actually backs up some of the early hype around him.

In front of an almost full house in Newcastle, the Knights have brought the Gold Coast Titans 6 game victory run to an abrupt end, defeating the visitors by a narrow 13-12.
The Knights showed from the outset of the match that they had done their homework on the Titans, shutting down key plays with some outstanding defence.
The return of Jarrod Mullen to the Knights side brought in two top line attacking players with Gidley moving back into the fullback role.

I think he had a few years at 5/8th where i guess if there is such a thing 'suffered' from playing next to johns. Thing is johns is such a dominant figure and sometimes I felt Gidley thought he needed to match him and as a result tried too hard, and he wasn't quite there yet ability wise. The move to fullback has turned him into a whole new player, he's got a free role, can do what he likes without the pressure of having the 6 or 7 on his back. In saying that he can play with the 6 or 7 on his back these days because his ability and confidence has reached that next level.
