we had more players out than the Panthers didn't we??
Yes, but as has been mentioned already numerous times, Penrith are already a very inexperienced side at full strength, let alone with basically every one of our most experienced players out. :p
Actually, I'll try to find out the average age of the players tonight, as I expect it would be extremely low.

The Dragons have better depth than us, IMO. :(
Also, they were the better team and took their opportunities when they arrived, which is what a good side does, so congrats.

I look forward to the next time we meet, hopefully both at full strength!

Good win by the Saints.

The Panthers looked really impressive up until the last 20. If they can keep up their intensity for the whole 80 they wil do really well this year. Well played Panthers

Yeah what the f**k is all this whining bullsh*t?

I watched the game and thought it was fine. Few dud calls here and there for both teams as usual. No stand-outs.

Maybe the Penrith guy should have been binned if anything.

They arn't depth though..they are our starters regularly...which is what Bigfoot's point is I think.

But yes..you are right...2-3 years down the track...hopefully they'll realise their potential....because if they do it'll be scary.

Skeepe you're a joke dude.

The pro foul, 1st half...coulda had a panther in bin but didn't.
The panther missed knock on, 1st half, they score soon after.
The dragons ball goes back (off the hands like you say), called a knock on and penrith score soon after.

Either way I agree the refs are bad, BUT, they've always been bad.
The difference this year, is its happening to everybody, not just the usual suspects.
So when saints beat bulldogs with a rough call for example, the world stops.

In any event, you think the ref won it for saints tonight ?????
More fool me, for even dignifying your stupidity with a response.
Here end lesson.

Yep, I can't wait to see them with a few years of first grade experience under their belt.

well yep maybe you dont have the same amount of great players in reggies that we do, but i think once your teams babies develop you guys are gonna be unstoppable. coote and graham have that natural freakish talent thats so rare!

I was a bit concerned abt how the Dragons forward pack would go against Penriths big forwards before the game, but I thought the Dragons worked them over really well. The most noticable difference in these two teams was the size of the Dragons outside backs and how they helped out in the middle. They weathered the early onslaught and slowly started to dominate posession and took the opportunities as they came.

I thought the scoreline done no justice to the Panthers as they played really well for 60 minutes and were very unlucky to get only two tries. They looked dangerous at times, but made alot more tackles in the 1st half. The tries that came off the back of penalties/turnovers really hurt the Panthers.

will be good and closer but will follow the same line that this game did. Dragons played really well, i think this period over origin is really going to consolidate depth for us coming into the finals and having guys with the ability to come in and not miss a beat

Umm...maybe you should brother...the arm CARRYING the ball...hits the ground...and then makes a second movement...its a double movement.
Maybe you should read the rules again, it is only a double movement if the arm LEAVES the ground again to promote the ball. Sowards elbow was planted on the ground and his arm rotated over that point to plant the ball down. It is not a double movement as no part of the body was planted, then lifted and extended.

By your interpretation any person who has their elbows hit the ground first, short of the line, then plant the ball are committing a double movement. That is the very reason there was no complaint from the commentators, sterlo even said it was very smart play.

Regarding the Soward double movement......have another look...the tacklers fell off and when he plants the ball there's not so much as a fingernail on him.

That referee certainly did Panthers no favours. The penalty count was absolute bullsh*t, as were a lot of his knock-on calls.

Dragons were the better team by far, but the scoreline is no reflection of the game IMO. The deserved the win, but i would have though a 1-12 margin would have been a better indication of the way the game was played.

While the Dragons were down a player or two more then us... they had a much more experienced side left on the field. Panthers are an inexperienced side full of juniors at full strength. Remove Lewis, Waterhouse, Petero, Jennings, Gordon and Tighe and we bascially have a side that is barely stronger then our Windsor Wolves team.

A few of our non regular brokes did show some promise, but no enough to carry out side through the Origin period.

MOTM: Steve Lyons (Dragons) and Jason Robinson (Dragons).

Worth noting that the Panthers did not receive a penalty for the final 60 minutes, despite the Dragons lying all over the ruck every tackle and one of the most blatant double movements you'll ever see.

 bloody fool!. The Dragons were very understrength, dominated the panthers and deserved their comprehensive win, go the Dragons!
