The tackle on Stagg was horrible. Easily a 4 week suspension.

... Joking. The tackle was a great one. Absolutely nothing in it and I have no idea why it was even placed on report. It was a great hit.

I always love dogs and souths game, one of the best rivalries in Sydney. Two teams with the biggest fan base in Sydney

The tackle on Stagg was on report for a simple reason, it went above the horizontal. I doubt there'll be a suspension from it but it did warrant being put on report. Should've been a penalty but hindsight means I'm glad it wasn't :D

Good win Dogs :D

Luke stuart was on report for an elbow around the neck region I believe. It was a textbook tackle, I found nothing wrong with it.

The sheppard try to Souths was clearly a sheppard. CLEARLY. As Kevin Moore said, since 1908 the rule is clear and that is that you can not run behind your own player to gain an advantage. Josh Morris wasn't knocked over, but he was taken out of the play and if not for the fact he is probably in the top 3 fastest players in the game then he wouldn't have had any shot on Sandow when he should have been able to stand his ground and make the tackle.

Instead, due to Sandow running behind his own player it made Josh Morris have to rush in on a player that didn't have the ball, allowing Sandow to stroll through.

And as for Sandow, he is a dirty little grub. Typical. He got some lip from Ennis who is well within his rights to mouth off, and he couldn't hack it so he does what they do best and starts swinging. Then he puts a great shot on Patten but ruins it by slamming down on him with a forearm. Then to put the icing on the cake he shoulder barges a defenceless Goodwin, who was on his knees, right in the head.

This is one of the sookiest things I've ever read on the internet. Oh and your interpretation of the obstruction rule is absolutely inept. Good job.

"well within his rights to mouth off"? What the f**k does that even mean? Was he also "well within his rights" to push Sandow in the face (which is why we got the penalty btw) If you want to dish it out like Ennis does (and Sandow, Gallen, Hodges etc) you better be prepared to take it.

Not saying Sandow isn't a dirty player, but to read this whiny tripe about dirty players from a supporter of a club that Michael Ennis plays for and that has had Willie Mason and Corey Hughes in the past is just laughable.

Anyway..

Luke Stuart placed on report for something Ben Lowe did. Ugh.

Nothing wrong with the 'obstruction'. Kevin Moore's reasoning is geniused - Idris ran behind 4 of his teammates before passing a long ball which resulted in the Goodwin try; is that an obstruction? Of course not. Morris had plenty of time to get across he just read the play poorly. Oh and if anyone wants to whinge about that try, the scrum that they were given in the first half that ended in El Masri's first try should never have been your feed. The replay clearly shows that the ball was out off El Masri, not Colin Best. But how quickly we forget the times we benefit from a refereeing error, and how long we hang on to the ones that go against us.

2nd half was woeful. It was our game to lose and we duly did so. Sutton had one of his worst games of the year. Not sure if we can bounce back from this - I thought if we won today we would have a chance next week but now their confidence will be shot after twice squandering a healthy lead. We could have iced the game when we had 4 on 2 on the left hand side of the field, but instead of passing to a wide open Talanoa Sandow put in a grubber, which resulted in that No Try from the video ref.

Tyrell in McPherson out please.

Seems to me that Sandow and fans simply can not hack Ennis getting in the face of his opponents. Clearly it works. I love it! :D

It was an obstruction mate, get over it. There is a difference in running across field and purpously stepping and running behind a team mate into a hole. It was a clear obstruction. Everyone saw it, the commentators agreed. Get over it. Typical of you to put the game down to poor Rabbitohs playing and not the awesome second half form of the Bulldogs. If you'd like to talk about every single penalty or decision the referees make before every try and in every set of six we can. There were several times we copped a poor decision whether it be restarting the tackle count or stupid penalties, such as the Souths player walking off the mark forward into Kimmorley and the ref giving a penalty just 40 meters out from the line.

And Timmah, the tackle on Stagg didn't go past the horizontal. It was simply a good tackle. It was on report for a "head slam" as the ref put it.

I still don't think they've got another gear. Good grinding win but they'll need more than that to win in the finals. Plus Roberts seems to have lost form completely.

Let me give you a few reminders then.

Down against the Panthers, last minute try to 'win' the game.

Down against the Titans, hit them with everything but the comeback was stifled by a dubious forward pass call.

Tight match against the competition leaders the Bunnies we went up a gear to beat them.

Down 12-0 against Dragons going hopeless until Hannant stepped up to the plate and we went up not 1 gear but about 20.

Down agains the Warriors, last minute try to win the game.

Down against the Bunnies playing woeful we went up about 3 gears again today.

Yet we can't go up a gear? lol

You couldn't be more wrong about Roberts either. He's playing the most consistently well he's ever played. He's even down to about 1-2 errors a game now. He had one brilliant game but that was more about Lockyer getting his tactics wrong than anything else. Very happy with the way Roberts is going.

Out of curiosity, who was obstructed?
Josh Morris was forced to go for the decoy runner. Now I'm not saying decoy runners are bad or that they shouldn't be there, but the fact that Sandow took advantage of the gap created by the decoy runner making Morris come in to attempt a tackle on him is against the rules.

You might say "well that's just a good decoy run" but it isn't because Morris was watching the man with the ball. He then dummied to the "decoy" and then blatantly ran behind him. Morris should never have had to make the decision to tackle the runner. It's a clear sheppard. It's why the rule was introduced. If Sandow had passed the ball it would have been fine. But as Gus said, it's in the rule book as clear as day - You can not run behind your own player to gain an advantage.

All we want is consistency and it seems so many obstruction and sheppard laws come into play all season, yet when a perect example of an actual sheppard happens they give it a try. That's consistency of an NRL standard for you.

Oh well, it's over with now. That's my opinion but what's done is done I guess.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was the decoy runner ever actually in between Sandow and Morris? Sandow might have run behind his player from the horizontal attacking line point of view, but I didn't think that he ever ran 'behind' the player from where Morris was situated. Or another way of saying it, Morris didn't lose sight of Sandow so he didn't have to contend with Sandow running behind his player.

I've seen it a couple of times. For mine, it was probably a bit of a poor read, but then again Morris should never have had to make that decision. He ran behind his own team mate to gain an advantage. It was a sheppard. Clearly some people will disagree, including the video referee, but some see it differently such as myself and the commentators.

But oh well, Souths can still be proud of the effort they put in today.

How quick was Morris though to get back at Sandow in the corner and throw him over the sideline. Speedster!!

Great fightback by the boys yesterday! The start was a little worrying but I had faith that they would find their feet and they didn't disappoint.

I was at the Dogs vs Eels game last week which had more than 30K crowd and I thought the crowd yesterday was even bigger but they said it was only 24k? :?

LOL @ Bulldogs fans whinging about the referee. They got pretty much all the 50/50 calls in that match.

Idris getting a penalty for being 'pushed' in the back by Talanoa. Try to Morris next set.

Colin Best getting pinged for throwing the ball out when it clearly came off El Masri.

Penalty against Best for hands in the play the ball when Warburton just dropped it.

El Masri knocking the ball forward to Sutton before throwing it stupidly to Best - El Masri try - not sent upstairs.

The call against Issac Luke for knocking on when he hit Ennis on the arm, forcing the ball loose. Sandow was in the clear.

Look, the Bulldogs bashed us out of the game in the 2nd half, so well done to them. Just stop whinging about the ref!
