And we have made the finals just once in the last six years ...

Yes, but atleast you had a golden period between 1997-2003 of 7 straight finals appearances and 2 premierships, something I'm very envious of. What's it like to see your team in the finals year after year? :?. I sure wouldn't know..

Making the finals for Brisbane is a regular thing. I doubt it brings them much joy.

I'm also surprised at the poll. I thought at home Newcastle would be a shoe in.

As part of the Old Boys day celebrations, I'm told Newcastle will wear their 88 heritage strip:

I still think Penrith is a better side than the knights and i think they will win.

as much as it pains me to say the knights deserve to be in the finals ahead of the panthers. knights have beaten every side in the top 8 this year, have they not?

Newcastle go from one of their toughest away assignments (Raiders in Canberra) to one of the games they generally do best in (Panthers at EAS). Coupled with a finals berth depending on the outcome and it being the last home game for the season, I'd tip the Knights comfortably. The only worry is that Tony Archer will be chosen as the ref. He's got a history of f**king the Knights, home or away! :x

Knights vs Panthers at Newcastle

Played 13, Panthers 7, Newcastle 6

Last Meeting at this ground: Penrith 46 Newc 12 (2007- Penrith finished last that year)

All of which means nought, but Newcastle in fact have a much better record against today's opponent at Penrith than Newcastle.

The knights should win but the panthers have the players to cause an upset. If Pritchard, Jennings and Lewis all fire they have a chance.

Lewis always fires. not an issue there. If Big Frank is on, if Jennings and Sammut trail him, and if the Panthers can hold the ball and not concede a lopsided penalty count, the Panthers have the ammunition to put the Knights away. Lot of ifs here though.

Elliott STILL can't pick a team... f**king hell. :x
Smith on the bench? One prop on the bench, and NO impact whatsoever?
Cooper in the centres?

And we have this bloke for another 2 years. Someone kill me now.

Graham will come on after the softening up period and Blair will move to the centres. Cooper is quite mobile, made a break that should have led to a try last week.

Mate, Cooper defensively is the worst player I have EVER seen play at centre.
His sideways movement is so slow it's pathetic.

panthers u20's copped another thrashing.

up 30-6, they then conceded the next 9 tries to nothing to lose 52-30 ouch.

Atleast our Under 20's are consistant. We've been leading quiet a few games at halftime, some by big margins only to get steamrolled in the second half and lose by a massive margin. We've got some serious issues at the club.

Having seen the team changes... i'm predicting Knights by 22. That bench is absolutely terrible. We desperately need 2 front rowers on our bench ontop of a backrower with size and mongrel for impact. The last position doesn't matter as we ideally won't need to use them.

Meh, do we need a miracle to win this? not confident playing away in Newcastle, in the day and with the problems with team selection.

The Under 20's have set the mood for the day. Knights will win by plenty. Panthers are simply incapable of winning when we need to.

We're in with a shot if we win the penalty count for once, cut out the errors, and Pritchard and Jennings have a big game.
