Eels looked better this week but some of the passes were as bad as what Finch was dishing out. They bombed a few tries with the overlaps they had.
Dragons have that belief which they haven't had in ages, even though the Eels dominated the first half they still managed to find a way to be on top at halftime and then stepped up in the 2nd half.

That sin bin was fairly harsh....

It was another pitiful excuse of refereeing. But Atticus Finch will tell us that the referee was right and Smith exceeded the 0.005 second in the ruck rule by .000000001 of a second which given the situation was a definite sin bin and up to the referees descretion for a send off and an automatic 8 point try.

Can't believe Weyman got reported for his brush across the face on Moi Moi.

Moi Moi went down clutching his face and stayed down like a CAT.
Then gets up and takes the next hit up.

Did anyone see the hit on Morris late in the game......I know the referees didn't.

Did you hear the explanation from the referee though? Something along the lines of "you put an elbow into the back of his head because you knew there was nobody back to defend and you thought if you hurt him you'd slow him up".

Obviously not the exact words, but I honestly couldn't believe it when I heard what he said. That's the most ridiculous use of the sin bin I've seen.

There have been two sin-binnings this season, both times it was against the away team at Parramatta Stadium and both have been absolutely disgraceful.

The mandate surely if a player deliberately drops an elbow to the back of the head 'in order to hurt him' would be a send off?

Clearly the referee saw no intent. But he still did a 'Paul Simpkins' and saw something in it that no one else could. I speak of course of the phantom knee that got Wade McKinnon sent off at Campbelltown in 2007 by Paul Simpkins in what can only be described as a laughable decision. It would not surprise me whatsoever if Simpkins in retrospect could not believe the decision he made and it had an impact on his impending retirement.

Conversely, in the Warriors-Souths game last week, the Warriors made a large line break, the Rabbits had like three defenders back, and David Kidwell rolled over the tackle, and then bunny hopped back over the top... not only was he not sin binned (as he certainly should have been), but a penalty was also not blown.

There are times and places to use sin binnings. David Milne and Jeremy Smith have had horror decisions go against them. David Kidwell should go out and buy a thousand lottery tickets and announce his retirement as he will end up being a very rich man.

Round 3, Parramatta vs Canberra. Luke Burt makes a break, David Milne makes the tackle. Doesn't stay on any longer than any other tackle in the game, as he's getting up Luke Burt throws himself forward (clear separation for all you amateur video refs in the house) and milks the penalty. Steve Lyons marches Milne for 10, Robert Finch apologises to Canberra for the incorrect decision (one of many that night, but I digress) during the week.
