1 More year?

It could be strongly argued, after tonights test match that Lockyer is playing the best Footy of his career, and despite the facial injury that was an accident anyway, he has escaped the season free of injury.

He will never play another year; not after the media have hyped his retirement so strongly, but the question could be asked: Could he get away with one more season? I think he could.

I rather see him retired at the top of his game then play past it like Matt Hayden did.

Let the great man retire on top, he doesn't deserve to go out on a bad note.

I am not saying if he stuck around for another year that next year would be unsuccessful but I wanna remember him as the guy booting a field goal in golden point with a fractured cheek, as opposed to a guy who played on for too long and lost touch with the rest.

I'd like to see him give Brisbane one season without having rep commitments. Would have been great to see him walk away with another gf win.

Still, you have to respect the man's decision. He doesn't owe anyone anything.

I definitely believe he's still capable of playing one more season at his best, and I'm sure it wouldn't be one too many, but he's going out on his terms, and if anyone deserves it, it's Locky!

Locky is capable of playing another season but he's the type of guy who, once he's made his mind up will not go back.

Maybe we'll see him fill in an emergency at some point - but I hope not.

Yea while watching him play against NZ I thought it looked like he still had another year at least left in him if he wanted. But as others have said, it's better for him to retire in good fassion than when he is buggered and passed it.

He definitely could run around another year without rep footy. But he definitely shouldn't.

His last game for Brisbane was the kind of high you would want to go out on - kicking the winning points in overtime with a broken face.

I like the fact that while he didn't go out with a GF win, he has the next best thing. Not a GF loss but the lingering doubt in every footy fan's mind about what MIGHT have happened had he been available to play Manly.

I can see him answering an SOS if you guys had massive injuries and he'd definately have it in him, but having him retire while still playing great footy is the ideal sendoff IMO.

with all the farewells he's had he can't come back

i think this year he's been able to concentrate on making every game count cos he knows it's his last season, he wont be the same going around again, it would be hard to get that mentality back.

Same with the 4N, he'll be counting down the games knowing he's getting to the end.

Even if we had massive injuries next year I don't want him to come back, he ended on as good a note as he could, having him come back into a struggling team does nothing for him or the club long term

p.s. do any comebacks from retirement ever end on a good note? Mat Rogers lasted 5 minutes, Kevvie Walters had a few games before a fracture, Stacy Jones was nothing once he came back from the UK. Devere lasted 2 minutes

Tunza had a pretty good comeback. Got into the starting side and showed our forward pack some heart.

Yeh, TC was 'ok', knocked a referee out, had some fun.

Darren Smith also made a great comeback, thought he was one of our best in 2005.

Not league related, but cant go past Michael Jordan in the NBA in 1993. His 2nd comeback with the Wizards was pretty good for an "old man"
