Cronulla may havebeen stripped of competition points had they beaten Sydney Roosters on Sunday with an unregistered player.
The Sharks were last night hit with a $10,000 for fielding former Junior Kangaroos star Leon Bott at Aussie Stadium.
While the Club was dismayed at the penalty, NRL chief operating officer Graham Annesley said the loss of points would have been considered had the Roosters not won, 38-32.
"It's a hypothetical situation and it would have depended on the circumstances," he said.

We paid TWO coaches when we sacked Ando for doing what he SAID he was going to do.
