Gordon is a better player than Coote, and a f**k load better than Burt.

As an outside back, hell yes. Michael Gordon has far more skill as an outside back and speed than Luke Burt, but he has no where near the vision to score tries that Luke Burt does. If both are at their best, there isn't much between them really. Compare Burt's first half of the year to Michael Gordon's, they are very even. They excel in different areas. Michael Gordon actually reminds me of a young Luke Burt; a skillful and speedy goal-kicking winger. Again though, strengths in different areas; Gordon the better player overall.

Funny thing though, you could throw Luke Burt into a playmaker position and he would excel. ;-)

Not trying to take away anything from Gordon, just saying Burt is a lot closer than you think when both are at their best.

Great win by the Panthers!
GO YOU PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!
Play like this in the Finals guys! Hopefully it will be a mixture of either you guys, Titans or Eels in the GF.

Very happy with the win.

Our forwards were outstanding in the first half, McKendry gets better and better.

I thought Walsh was great, really took the line on and was willing to spread the ball even in our own half

Why would you even make the comparison? Rugby league fans seem to not be able to breathe unless they're bagging some player or other, usually with an obvious agenda of boosting some other player they happen to like.

f**k me, but I'd take any or all 3 players named.

Michael Gordon is a quality player, maybe not a superstar, but real quality week in week out. The Sharks must be kicking themselves considering how close they were to securing his signature on a 3 year deal.

So any more debate about Gordon vs Meritt? Or is that still racism?

:lol::lol:

One game, and not playing on the wing. Merritt is still better.

Anyway, the game...

F**king pathetic. Absolutely horrendously bad. And somehow, thanks to Newcastle, we'll still scrape in if we win our last two. I don't see how that's going to happen with awful efforts like that, though. Talanoa was dreadful. AGAIN.

Time for Kane Morgan/Josh Mansour to partner Best on the left, and Farrell straight in for Champion. Dave Taylor back next week too - it's not all over yet.

Gordon has gone to another level since origin, something real origin players do. He may cause Morris some headaches next year if he keeps it up seeing as Uate has made himself available for NSW.

The only bit of that post worth a chuckle is in bold. Gordon has been very good for far longer than one game.

One game against one another was my point. And yes, I rate Gordon - I have done since he started in the NRL.

But Merritt has scored more tries in the NRL than any other player in the last five years, is solid defensively and deserved an origin chance before Gordon...but this really isn't the thread to discuss that.

Penrith not relying on the kick to score tries is a daunting prospect - they might actually do some damage in September.

Maybe...

However your side can't tackle for sh*t. Few other teams I'm more worried about at this point.

This is true - we're ranked last in terms of missed tackles I think.

How the team that scored more tries than any other in 2009 and in 2010 is going to miss the finals in both of those seasons underlines how important defence is...

Your side was hit by a sh*t load of injuries. Who knows what could have happened...In saying that though to win this premiership, despite what people think, will come down to whether teams can tackle. Saints and Titans can, and for that reason....

Last night the Rabbitohs were playing the National jersey grabbing league.

Woe is them. Panthers played well but were allowed to play well. McKendry was a monster.

Agree...thye must have turned it on big time !!. Will watch the game this arvo.

Mate Souths just never came out of the sheds, as simple as that.

Penrith may as well have been playing against nobody.

That performance last night, will be heartening for Penrith fans, but I wouldn't read a great deal into it.
To me it just shows that really we should have a top 5, as Souths today are still alive and don't deserve to be.
What they dished up for their fans last night was disgusting.

After losing 5 of our last 6 games, it was just great to see we still had that sort of performance in us. Ever since we played the Dragons, we've been absolutely terrible.

Whether it's a one off or not doesn't really matter at the moment. It locked us in for our first finals appearance in 5 years and also gave us a bit of hope that we can find the form that had us sitting in second for so long.

Not sure what fired us up last night - maybe it was the fact that we finally dropped down the ladder after a loss? Maybe it was how humiliating our last game was. Maybe it was a fluke.

Because of the Parra fans reaction to Gordon getting the SOO job ahead of Burt, the sh*t they talked of Gordon and how they treated the selection like some kind personal vendetta against their club and Burt instead of the perceptive and intelligent selection it was. If you stopped and thought about it for half a second it should have been obvious.
