Hmmm.
Look I just don't rate Souths that much, I know they have the massive forward pack...but hasn't that been the case for the last 2 years?
They need to buy a half, they need organising....I love Sandow but he's too inconsistent.

As usual, it'll be close but I'll lean more towards the Roosters.

I'm actually tipping a slow start to the year for Souths so I reckon we may get rolled here. (As much as I hate to say it). Quite a few key players have had an interrupted off season for us and I think it'll take a hand full of games for them to get on the ball.

Sutton and Sandow's kicking games looked a bit scratchy in the CS, Roy, Dave Taylor and Ben Ross will take a few weeks to hit their straps and we don't see Mick Crocker for a while either.

In comparison, the Roosters have had a few injuries, but the likes of Pearce and Carney have been carving it up in the trials. Their young forward pack have also been going fairly well against some other big name packs and I expect them to be pumped for this.

Carney, Mini and the young Roosters centres will really test our defense out wide and I think at this early point in the season it won't be able to stand up.

I hope to God I'm wrong and Souths come roaring out of the blocks, but I reckon the Bunnies will be feeling their way around a little for a few weeks.

As much as it pains me to say this, I reckon it'll be the Roosters by 10.

I'm thinking we'll have the slow start as we're getting some new combos together plus I'm concerned about Carney getting exposed in an unfamiliar position. While happy they have given me some reason to feel optimistic this year, I'm not taking our trial form too seriously as I think it was largely against disinterested opposition. That said, I can't tip against us. Just can't. Roosters by 50.

If our defense is as poor out wide as it was in the CS then we are going to struggle to win this one. If John Lang has been able to tighten things up then we will win comfortably. I'm just not sure that he has.

Not a fan of that bench. Would prefer to have Paea and FPN swap and only one of Jones or Kouparistas to make way for a prop, as we only have 1 on the bench.

Didn't expect any different, except Paea starting.
