Okay I will say wtf to Hunt winning Man of the Match though. Some of the Nine MotM decisions of late have been perplexing to say the least. :)

I was shocked, but who would you have given it too? No real stand outs, a typical saints performance. Everyone does their job.

I probably would have given it to Creagh or Cooper (since there was no way they were going to give it to Boyd again after the last two weeks).

As you said though, it was definitely a great team effort by the Dragons. At half-time it could have gone either way, but they upped the ante to shut the Roosters out in the 2nd half.

Pretty damn tough game of footy, Dragons won the key moments.

Dont know how the dragons got the ball off that 'knock on' off the Soward kick a couple of sets before their first try (before the roosters guy knocked the ball in the tackle and they got the ball back again). Also though there was a 6 again late in the game when the roosters were still in it which wasnt given, shortly before the 4th dragons try.

No one stood out for the Dragons, very solid team performance. Soward wasnt particularly good.
Roosters probably deserved to score a bit more in the first half, but were comfortably outplayed in the second.

Incredibly angry at how this game has gone in the second half.
To the Dragon fans, well done.

Mate i can only see improvement in the Roosters, i do not want to be playing them in the semis. You guys are in for a good season

INB4 'saints dont wanna play anyone in the semis' :p

Hope so. We have one hell of a lot of work to do.
Good luck for Saints season.

Angry in general, or not happy with some ref decisions or just wiht how the roosters fell away?

I've thought its been refed pretty well, but as a saints fan I might be biased.

Good to see the young ref finishes off the last 3 minutes of the game. Good experience, and the result is known.

People will say there will be inconsistancies, but for last 3 minutes at 28-6 who cares.

Other than that first call that led to a try, I had no problems with the ref. Not many at least.

Angry with how we fell away in the second half. I'd like to think that was more thanks to the Dragons going for it.

Outclassed. We didn't play badly - the Dragons defence was excellent, ours could be better, and they took their chances when we gave them penalty after penalty in the second half.

If we can get our discipline in order we might be able to match them next time.

Should note that although the scores are fairly similar, this was not the gutless Roosters display we saw on ANZAC Day last year.

Roosters are still a work in progress. The scoreboard doesn't say it but we made a game of it this year and was a match befitting ANZAC Day. Congrats to both teams. Well done Saints fans, good year ahead of you.

Was at the game today - Roosters looked comfortably the better side in the first half ... we made so many simple mistakes, and Soward's kicking game in the first half was terrible to say the least.

Roosters really should have gone into the break with a 10+ point lead, but despite our attack being poor, our defence was generally quite solid. Roosters were making easy metres up through the ruck early in tackle counts and then spreading to the right (most times) and making a lot of metres out there on about play 4.

The second half was a different game, though .. even though we still made elementary mistakes, when we got to the Roosters end we put the points on the board, and our defence stepped it up a notch again -- the Roosters could barely manage to get out of their own half in the second stanza.

Overall there was a fair difference in class between the teams by the end of the game, but that was more due to the fact that the Saints are able to play at the same high tempo for the full 80 minutes, whilst the Roosters could only match them for 40 before falling away in the second half ... definitely a work in progress, I think Smith will have them in or around the Top 8 come Septemeber.

Well done Dragons.
We played well but as others said just outclassed. They put in effort and only slackened off after the game was pretty much done and dusted.
We can only improve and we are doing that week by week this year granted with a couple of off weeks.
I think alot teams wouldn't have come close to either us or the Dragons today with the way each played.
We still have a few stupid errors like forced passes when they are not on and stupid penalties in our game which I believe will be gone by the end of the year.

Unusual that Nein gave Hunt MOTM yet the Spirit of ANZAC medal awarded at the ground was to Darius...

More discipline from us would have seen a far closer game. Even in the first half, it seemed like we had to work our way upfield whereas the Dragons were constantly given pickyback penalties. Eventually we had to tire out I guess

I think the most telling factor was in the second half about 50 minutes gone, whenever we kicked down field the Roosters forwards were very slow getting back into position. Most just getting into the attacking line on the fourth play.Repeat offenders of this were Ryles,Waerea-Hargraves,No.17(Brunton?).

I'm pretty sure the penatly count was close to even. When your team can play for 80 minutes, then they might have a chance.
