Just thought I’d bump this thread considering Val’s brilliant performances in the last couple of weeks plus the very strong rumours that we have offered or are about to offer a huge contract extension.

His coach has praised him, the Maroons have praised him, the media have praised him and he’s now just one try away from being the leading try scorer.

He has an error or two in him I’ll grant you but he more than makes up for it.

Your honour, I’d like to call upon those now who have been critical of him, messers Frenzy and DTTC spring to mind, and ask them now to produce further evidence of his “shit” footballer status.

Surely now they must concede that a Sharks team with no Val Holmes in it in 2018 has no chance whatsoever on capturing this year’s premiership.

I dont think anyone can say Val hasnt improved as a fullback last year he really struggled, and more you think about it, so did rest of the team, premership hangover, and we also lost Ennis.

Ennis did a lot to benefit everyone, Holmes was fullback and it takes a while to learn position, and Maloney was offering us very little last year, so Holmes went into a spine that had a rookie hooker, a half who was not improving and a non interested 5/8.

This year yes Holmes started off badly, Flanno switched him in and out of fullback, we had injuries throughout the team which was causing issues. Moylan was getting used to playing 5/8, again our half has not improved. Brailey 2nd year in slowly developing.

But now the team has improved, but Val has really taken off, he is developing great understanding with Moylan, and for defence its hard to work out take one leave the other.

When Dugan plays you see Holmes drift around him again defence is concerned.

With Woods again it creates danger.

But Holmes alone he attacks the ball, he puts us on attack from the time he catches, Peach would do the same, its about getting you on front foot and he is doing it

I really don’t know if I can take you seriously.

If you think all those players were better than Val then you either have rocks in your head or Val’s done something personal and horrible to you.

I just can’t think of any other valid reason why you can’t see how good a player he is.

It just beggars believe that you can be so narrow minded about one player.
