I'm not that worried about playing down here this year. Even if the Raiders dominate, they have proven before that they can't finish games off or even score inside the 20 metre zone. I don't expect a win but feel the two points will come a lot easier down in Canberra this year.
Haha oh dear, well the way WE play down here is certainly getting me worried for the years to come
On the game though, our forwards went missing again. Being at the game, it was just so noticeable how much bigger the Raiders pack was. Monaghan was similar in size to most of our forwards. Of course, completely steamrolled up the middle. You could go on about a lot of other things too. Awful defending, McManus' positioning, Gidley's poor options like that hopeful kick for Uate when we could have done with a line drop out to regain some momentum.
I think some of the Raiders fans are being a bit harsh. They had ALL the possession and ALL the 50/50's go their way in the first half. It rarely continues in the second half and it didn't this time. It was a deadly display of error free and simple football which was all they needed to unlock the defence. If the domination went the other way, Newcastle would push passes and try to score off every play. We would have then made mistakes and given away momentum. IMO Canberra would have beaten any team in the comp with that 40 minutes. The Raiders still looked dangerous in the second half but some Uate magic and a 50/50 call going Mullen's way made the scoreboard look a bit more respectable. More atrocious refereeing though most found it amusing apart from some Raiders fans who were furious. Give it a bone, you're 40 up
The ref just let the Knights play on after a 5 on 1 strip lol
