Penrith Panthers v Manly Sea Eagles
GREG PRICHARD
June 24, 2010 - 8:16PM
Friday, CUA Stadium, 7.35pm
Referees: Tony Archer and Tony De Las Heras
Head to head: Panthers 25, Sea Eagles 46, drawn 1
Last clash: Sea Eagles 20-6 at CUA Stadium (rd 14, 2009)
TAB SportsBet: Panthers $1.45, Sea Eagles $2.65
FootyTab: Sea Eagles +5.5
The Panthers passed an important test on the road against the Broncos last weekend. They went to Brisbane and beat a team that had won five in a row. Sure, the Broncos were probably due for a loss, but a challenge like that would have been beyond the Panthers last year. They have developed to the stage now where they believe they can win, and are playing to their potential a lot more. And they have proven their ability to win when inspirational skipper Petero Civoniceva is out injured.
This shapes as a tough one for the Sea Eagles away from home. They showed plenty of spirit and commitment to nudge in front of the Rabbitohs late in last weekend's game, that one-point victory coming after back-to-back losses to the Broncos and Titans, but they have lost inspirational skipper, Jamie Lyon, to injury again. The Panthers have plenty of attacking firepower. They are the highest-scoring team in the competition. The Sea Eagles are going to have to defend tremendously well to put themselves in the game.
