I'd dearly love to know what the actual rule is. I always thought it was ok to use the ref as an obstruction, though in this instance the ref did it all himself. In any case, we were up 19-6 at the time and controlling the game well. The Titans were never in it, despite having more than a fair share of possession and field position (due mainly to our uncharacteristic poor handling). Our defence was too strong.

Anyway, happy to get the 2 points despite a sub-par performance and move on to next week.

Cant help but think if that had happened to almost any other club it would have been ruled no try .. Dragons = refs golden child.

The ref can't impede a defending player, the defender has to work around the ref. It's in the rulebook, only attacking teams can be impeded. It was poor positioning by the ref and the titans are entitled to feel hard done by but there was no other decision that could have been made unless you're a fan of the ref's making up rules.

think it was just a tough call against the Titans but not much to be done about it. Sowards kick was too good for the ref in that instance. First week back and loving the 'worst call ever, what a disgrace' comments. Awesome to have the footy back!

Well the rule only allows for interference to be called if the ball or the player carrying the ball touch the ref.
It makes no allowance for defenders being impeded. I'm pretty sure we've seen some players (Farrah?) use the ref as a shepherd before but it is rare. This is the first time I've seen it result in a try.

All Prince seems to do is whinge to the ref or touchie and kick to the corners. On last nights performance it is clear why he does not get a run in origin.

What is hilarious is that Prince could easily have caught the ball on the full but chose to run a shepherd for Zillman instead:lol:
