Oh well. Proud of the Dogs performance today. With a Hodkinson or Ennis in the second half i think we might have snuck it but not to be.

As a dogs fan i'm warming to Dymock being coach. He has actually put a bit of pride back in the jersey and given some free reign in attack. He has been willing to drop under performing players and back some of the lesser names in the squad.

Wouldn't mind seeing Romelo stay at 5/8 for the rest of the year and into the future. Keating is an abysmal 5/8 and with Ennis already at hooker and Reynolds there abouts, i don't think he has much of a future.

Oh well, i look forward to next season when the dogs have a semi decent coach for the whole season!

Idris is seriously the slowest centre in the game, and probably one of the slowest players in general.

Completely incapable of going the length of the field.

Deserving win by Manly in the end. They got some calls go there way in the first half, but dogs had plenty of ball and opportunity to win this game 5 times over if not for some great defence and a few choice brain snaps by the dogs players.

Down to a 9 horse race now
Good calls right there...refs were pathetic both ways...i hope they never ref a finals game together. The dogs would of won against lesser defence by a truckload. They really turned up and it was interesting to watch a few of their players on big money who have bludged most of the season suddenly bust a gut.

Dogs playing at their peak, Manly in 2nd gear and still win. Says a lot for half the teams in the comp.

Our 6,7 and 9 for the 2nd half was Romelo, Reynolds and Keating which lead to no structure. You're giving the dogs way too much of a compliment saying we played to our peak towards the end. It was gutsy but not particularly great.

can't decide if manly are suffering a late season fade or if i'm not giving enough credit to the eels and the dogs for really stepping it up in the past two weeks

If you peak was any higher, than you would be in 10th on the ladder. That was the Dogs peak.

Referees were definitely pathetic both ways. It was a penalty try to Stagg, no doubt about it. Barba's try wasn't a try, Idris pushed Williams. As well as many other strange calls and goings ons that happened between the blokes in pink.

BOTH sides deserved to win I think. 'Dogs played really well but some silly ewrrors and missed opportunities definitely cost us. But we did play well and had more than enough chances to win.

Some epic big hits, especially Kasiano on Rose and Williams on Eastwood. Great to watch.

All in all, I was proud after today and am relieved the season is over so we can move forward with a new coach and a squad that has now played a year together and doesn't have many losses or gains for next year. We'll be better for it.

Problem is Manly have been stuck in 2nd gear for about a month now.

They'll need to figure out how to kick it into top gear in the finals

Thats just a brilliantly constructed sentence....Well done.

That wasn't close to our peak. We've played well in patches, like we did in the first half but never for a full 80. With Ennis or Hodkinson out there we might have had a bit more structure in the second half and actually sustained some pressure but it wasn't to be.

Not to mention that we have had a completely inept coach for over half the season who turned us into a complete rabble.

Hopefully next year, maybe under Dymock, we perform alot closer to our potential than we did this year.

I think we have picked up a few tiny injuries, If Newcastle win on Monday, I think we should rest some players.

Idris' push on Robertson was fine for me. Robertson got his hands to the ball and then Idris pushed him. As soon as you contact the ball with your hands you are fair game. It's like when a player takes a hit up while juggling the ball. You don't just wait for them to gain control, you hit them and make sure he loses it.

Mind you, everything else you said i agree with. Was nice to see the Dogs play with a bit of passion and width in attack.

What's your view on Dymock? Would you sign him up?

Solid effort from the dogs, manly just a class above. You could really tell we were missing Hodkinson and Ennis today. Dymock seems to be doing a solid job as coach, not completely sold on him as the full time option. If DCE doesn't get rookie of the year there is something wrong

I thought the Dogs were unlucky to lose Hodkinson in the second half, it really killed any chance they had. Cherry Evans was outstanding today and he will be robbed if he doesn't win the rookie of the year. Manly played in patches though, we'll want to put in 80 minutes next week or we'll get flogged.

Is there a grubbier team than Manly? With Matai, Watmough, Lussick, Glenn Stewart, Rose, King, Lyon... I can't think of another team with as many out and out thugs.

So true. The cheap shots, elbows to the head, neck etc today was pretty piss poor. And then Watmough tries to start Barba. HA! I'd like to see him try and shove Kasiano.
