What are those little pipes they give to injured players these days?
Oh, I definitely agree that Stewart can defend- and his positioning in defense (which isn't measured in stats) is excellent.
I think some people might be influenced by Stewart's attempts in the last Origin to regather some kicks, some of which were poor. But it was a night in which Slater struggled also, and all the outside backs dropped it or misread the kicks a few times. Stewart's defense wasn't terrible that night, despite what some were saying, and it is usually excellent.
Dugan is a good defender too, and can pull out some good goal line try savers, and despite the article, so is Hoffman (he is safe as houses with most kicks). The bad defenders (like Gardner) really stand out- they get targeted by halves all the time. Not many of the top full backs get targeted- kicks and attack tends to target the much weaker wingers in the teams with good fullbacks.

When will the Raiders realize that the amount of coin he is on, he is no where near value for money?
I'd argue Stewart's defence is far better than his attack. He makes a lot try savers for us. The only area of Stewarts game I'd put him behind other top fullbacks is his kick returns. He rarely attacks the line with speed and often goes down in a tackle. I suspect it a safety thing after 2 knees and a shoulder in his career.
He is a great finisher and is heavily involved in attacking plays for Manly. Overall I'd rather Stewart to Dugan myself. Dugan is good in his own way, and will get better with a decent coach.

So you're saying a player on less money wouldn't have been badly injured then?

What he's saying is its a waste to have however much Dugan is on spending half the time injured, same deal with Sam Burgess.
