My memories of SBW were of a strong back rower with a good offload.

He really is a bit "slight" now after slouching around in the backs.

Needs to bulk up, despite Goulds wrap I reckon he has been mediocre at best, and looks to need about half a season to get back to speed

Well that's completely incorrect, he bulked up for Union and is bigger now than ever. It's all pretty transparent given he has to weigh in for boxing. His listed weight has gone from 102kg--106kg (league) to 108kg or 110kg in Union/now. His weigh-in weights for boxing have gone from 104kg in 2009 to 108kg now.

Decent quality game IMO.

Souths were fantastic in defense, Storm like in their all out commitment and belief in each other.

Refs were decent, too many forward passes were allowed to go through from dummy half though.

The atmosphere seemed great watching on TV, shit house picture on WIN didn't really allow it to be enjoyed though.

The camera work is definitely an improvement, spidercam is a great addition IMO. The SBW voiceovers were f**king woeful, and the VB jingle was being played far too loudly over the top of the half time analysis & MOM interview.

The sideline reporter needs to ask at least one more question each from the player & coach at halftime, seemed kinda pointless with Johns only asking one very short one.

Great crowd also - 36k, surely would have to be one of if not the highest crowd between the two in the traditional season opener.

He's definitely bigger, especially in the legs. I think people need to take off the hate/anti-union glasses abit

Rubbish the refs were even worse than the Roosters.
The forward passes, players offside from kicks. The Roosters were awarded a scrum after Crocker was deemed to have lost the ball, when clearly had the ball knocked out.

The NRL needs to sort this out or the game will not be worth 10 cents let along 1 billion dollars

The forward passes from dummyhalf were Terrible, but as I said earlier in the thread friend and Luke along with cam smith are the 3 worst at this in the game.

Hopefully it isn't a sign that they will be let go this year.

Lets be honest here, the Roosters this year remind me so much of the days where Souths would buy every high profile bloke on the market on RIDICULOUS salaries...despite not fixing the key problems. Now who are the most important players on a team- your 1, 6, 7, 9. Now Friend is solid but that is it, and so is Maloney. However as good as Mini is, he is 30 years old! Pearce is rubbish. Rossters might marginally scrape into the 8, but that is about it. The key positions are as bad as last season!

Early days but to only score 10 pts and have 28 put in you is never acceptable.

Was the quality of the TV picture this bad last year?
