The basics of the rule is you can't run behind your own player.

Mannering passed to a man on his inside, and that man proceeded to run around mannering while already in possession back to his outside. They attempted a run around, but butchered it as the receiver was still inside mannering when he caught the ball.

What rule basics are you referring to?

The only player "obstructed" was in the process of tackling Mannering when the obstruction occurred.
