LOL

Was not expecting to see this reading back through the thread

SBW best on ground tonight

Inglis stopping and taking a couple of step backwards when SBW came out to put a hit on is set to be almost as overhyped as Burgess running over the top of SBW but also being tackled by SBW at the same time

You should get onboard the SBW train Angry, every post is a winner
Haha

^
This.

SBW owned all 3 Burgi tonight.

He was amazing and is a once in a generation talent.

IMO I think the likes of Manly and the Storm HAVE to be worried after what they saw in tonight game.

Sure it wasn't the perfect game of league, but once these two teams do hit their straps,I don't think anyone else will stop them.

We must've watched a different game. While i still think that both teams are capable of winning the GF as I've maintained all along there was nothing out of tonight's game that would bring on any more worries for Storm or Manly, especially from Souths.

You seem to conveniently forget that when Storm and Manly also hit their straps they're not too bad either ;-)

Come on Manu, GI threw him off like he wasnt there. Spotted him out of the corner of his eye and adjusted brilliantly. You never see SBW get brushed like that when he has a shot on.

Sonny lost the battle but won the war though, good game by him.

The only Burgess who did anything was George. Ran hard and bent the line, like he always does. Bloke is a machine.

Thought the "Scum - Forever in our shadow" banner was a bit much, even for Souffs.

What a thoroughly entertaining game of football

Souths tried hard and were commendable opponents, but they made a lot of usual errors. I can't see them doing that again in a hurry. They will be much better in the finals series

They needed to play percentage football rather than go for the throat every time they had the ball.

SBW, Maloney & Pearce were great, as were a lot of other players playing out of position or above their normal station for the Roosters.

There was a great crowd there tonight - with a large Roosters away contingent which surprised me.

Nice to see both sets of fans behaving in this thread rather than trolling and sledging too. Respect all round to all of you for behaving and adding rather than detracting to the thread.

Rugby league was the winner tonite what a great game.
What was written on that massive sign something I think started with the word scum, does anyone know??

Scum: Forever in our Shadow

 Souffs: Forever in our Lols

It's got nothing to do with tin foil hats tonight, Souths have been getting a leg up all season but tonight you were just way outplayed and beaten by the much better team.

They gave you a shitload of opportunity to let you win it with their I'll discipline but the Rabbits just werent good enough on the night to punish them for it. I'm really hoping the Roosters do the same to us next week because i don't think we'll let them off the hook like your team did.

In saying that i think the Roosters might rein it in a bit in that regard and won't give us the same opportunities.

Melbourne are the team that will most take advantage of poor discipline, they've proven it time and time again.

Anyway, congrats to Souffs on a tough game and a great season. See you in 3-4 weeks.

Also, great crowd. If I had to guess I'd say 40k Souffs, 15k Roosters, 5k neutrals, give or take.

He certainly adjusted brilliantly, Inglis' ability to change direction quickly and shift his momentum like that is part of what makes him so uncannily difficult to tackle, on top of the size and speed and fend and all of that. However "threw him off like he wasn't there" suggests he dramatically overpowered him in a test of strength ala a WWF title match between Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior. Really he left SBW grasping by stopping and going sideways/backwards a bit. People over-dramatise shit, and I can understand why when it's an Inglis-SBW direct contest.

Kudos Inglis for using his skills to flummox SBW on this occasion, however I am not prepared to pay out on "Inglis is the better man and def benches more and has a bigger wang cos this happened" just yet.

The real issue is after Inglis's momentum was basically halted and he was well behind the advantage line, he surged through 3 other Roosters defenders who may as well have not been there. In general circumstances that sort of missed tackle, where you stop the deep runner behind the advantage line and force him back in field, shouldn't lead to much.

Hate to have to break down a single missed tackle like that, but I am after all responding to Mr Angry claiming that Inglis proved himself to be the player of his generation in that one moment

Was a good game, would've been a thrilling finish had Farrell and Burgess not butchered those tries.

Very happy with the win.

Good reading everyone's comments this morning.
A good even spread of people's views from different supporters.

I was unable to comment through the game.

Very happy we stopped Souths getting the silverware.
And like others have said, the "Scum" sign was not called for.
But was I surprised to see it from a Souths fan? No.
The rivalry between us is great, but some Souths fans need to remove that huge chip on their shoulder!

The issue with Sam Burgess is that he takes bad options close to the line...runs great angles but when the offload is on he tends to only think of himself....pretty one dimensional and teams have worked him out now.

It looked to me that SBW didn't time the shot well and failed to make it stick, rather than Inglis simply throwing him off. That's not to discredit Inglis in any way - indeed, it just highlights the threat he is. Williams identified the threat, failed to neutralise it and bang, try.

Well done Roosters. I had written you off last week.

Roosters line speed in defence is just ridiculous, were up in Souths face all game. I hate Maloney but gee he's such a smart player when he wants to be.

Souths have some work to do and I think their outside backs were really exposed last night. Merritt, Walker, Farrell and Goodwin all lost their shit at times in that game. Other teams should just target their outside men if they want to beat souths.

He timed the shot fine, anyone else he would have nailed them.

And Manu please tell me your a budding sci-fi writer, your analysis of my shrugged him off comment was superb.

It ok fb's, even the very best get owned every now and again
