Rumours coming from the Sharks are that none of these guys are playing:

- Carney
- Graham
- Lewis
- Morris
- Ryan
- Gordon
- Gal

And that we've put in an application to the NRL for 3 debutantes.

Rest fifita you merkins!!!!

If the rumours are true, Andrew wants to play because David is making his debut tonight.

He tweeted the other day that he didn't want to be rested, perhaps that is why?

Not sure how we can be playing a few players outside the top 25. No way the NRL will allow that.

As much as i didnt want Cornish to be subjected to the current FG environment, what a disgrace it is that his debut got kyboshed in a game in which the sharks are resting literally every player who means anything to their finals campaign.

The NRL are a total disgrace. Any wonder why im sitting on my arse at home tonight and looking forward to the 3am alarm to watch NFL, instead of of going to this game.

I think the reason Cornish got snubbed is because the Raiders just asked to use him, whereas the Sharks registered to the NRL that most of these players being rested have injuries so using debutantes was the only choice.

But clearly the sharks aren't taking this game seriously, and no one can really dispute that they are, so given that, there is no reason to deny Cornish his debut.

The NRL knocked us back on Cornish because essentially it would be unfair to a club still vying to improve it's top 8 position, it is quite apparent the sharks arent vying to do anything except cotton wool their guns for the finals otherwise the sharks wouldnt be resting half their squad, so there is precisely ZERO justification in blocking Cornish's debut under these circumstances.

You would think so. We are apparently debuting 2 guys tonight when we got denied an exemption last week to play one of them v dragons

Dude, we got knocked back because we have other players in our top 25 available to fill those roles. Williams played for Mounties yesterday.

I know we have been through some bullshit but that just doesn't entitle us to break the rules.

I understand why we've been knocked back but it makes absolutely no sense to do it. I can see justification if we were vying for finals, breaking the rules in this manner to try and make the finals and compete for a premiership is a different kettle of fish to what we asked for. There is no competitive advantage or disadvantage. The sharks are resting stars to avoid injury before the finals, we literally cant even make it beyond this week.

I can see what your saying, it's a rule and we shouldnt be allowed to break it but i think common sense in this situation should prevail given there is no harm that can come of it and only good for the game. Cornish debuting probably puts me in the ground tonight, as it turns out im not going. Media interest, general interest and fan interest would be much higher if Cornish was debuting, and the sharks dont even care about this game.

that all being said, whilst im disappointed for Cornish, i am pleased with the outcome. I personally thought it was a poor selection by a desperate coach to get a W on his record. I see no reason to subject Cornish to this current FG environment of pea hearts. Better of waiting until the new coach comes in and sets the tone for 2014, and we name him our #7 from day one of the off season IMO. I didnt like his chances of a good debut when half the team have already put the cue in the rack this year. It could have been a real confidence denter if he came in, his team mates gave up on him and his debut game was a thumping by an under manned sharks team...

i think this top 25 thing is crap.

if the guy is registered to your club - doesn't matter if he's been playing for hongkong hornets 3rd grade - he should be able to play.
