The big 3 have all shown throughout the wc they're 40 minute teams. But it's hard to stay motivated against the minnows.

If all teams play to their full potential, I think NZ will defend their title.

If all teams play to their potential then Australia win comfortably. However, I hope they don't and one of the other countries get them on an off day. Would love to see the poms get up on the weekend and try and roll over the kangaroos pack at old trafford.

Big Manu is out

The New Zealand Kiwis will be without Manu Vatuvei for their Rugby League World Cup semi final against England.

The winger was unable to recover from a groin injury in time, with coach Stephen Kearney confirming Jason Nightingale will take his place.

"Manu hasn't run at all this week, there was a chance that he could've been right for Saturday, but we would've had to wait right up until the last minute," Kearny was quoted in the Daily Telegraph.

"With what's at stake, I wanted to give Jason Nightingale a full week's preparation on the wing, so he could get his mind around playing."

Frank Pritchard remains in doubt.

England has also released its squad with New Zealand-born Rangi Chase replaced by St George Illawarra half Gareth Widdop.

New Zealand Squad: Kevin Locke, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Dean Whare, Bryson Goodwin, Jason Nightingale, Kieran Foran, Shaun Johnson, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Issac Luke, Jesse Bromwich, Frank Pritchard, Sonny Bill Williams, Simon Mannering (capt), Frank-Paul Nu'uausala, Sam Kasiano, Ben Matulino, Elijah Taylor, Sam Moa, Alex Glenn.

England Squad: Carl Ablett, George Burgess, Sam Burgess, Rob Burrow, Josh Charnley, Leroy Cudjoe, Liam Farrell, Brett Ferres, James Graham, Ryan Hall, Chris Hill, Lee Mossop, Sean O'Loughlin, James Roby, Kevin Sinfield (capt), Sam Tomkins, Kallum Watkins, Ben Westwood, Gareth Widdop.

Just hoping for a close game.

I'm worried that NZ are going to run away with it easily.

i just don't see any creativity in a widdop/sinfield combo....plus chucking widdop in at this stage defies all logic....but im trying to be positive...lol

i can only hope that Mcnamara's game plan is to play simple RL,stack the bench with forwards and hope that roby & burrow to make yards around the ruck and utilize tomkins more as a 2nd pivot and attack the weak kiwi edges...

thats what id do anyway...

This is slightly off topic...

But I saw this photo on the NRL website....

Deadset has to be one of the best photos I've seen of the kiwis...

A mate of mine down at the gym reckons the days of the aussies always having that extra oomph at the end of games will now disappear.

You got anything to back that up??

The last 5 matches between NZ and England...

NZ hold the edge 3-2.

Do I need to mention the record in world cup semis?

McNamara, Sheens, Kearney, Stone.

I think the Bati have the best coach of the last 4.
Tate left centre, change your hooker and 5/8 for the semi.... Mmm...

If only national coaching positions paid a comparable rate to NRL coaching positions.

obviously i meant when u play us here.....1win in 10years.....shocking record for "2nd best team in the world" lol

Okay so we are 'shocking' because we've won once in 10years in the UK...

You will be lucky to have beaten us once in the last 20years in the southern hemipshere.

So that justifies why we are ranked higher than you.

Not to mention the small fact that we have proven that we can beat Australia when it matters... Where you guys just choke...
