NSW board need to grow a pair, either terminate City/country after this year or make these players accountable and grow the game into an event out in the country (as it should be), if your legitimately injured where you wouldnt play next week for your club, fair enough, but these players who fake injuries so they get out of playing these games need to be more accountable.
If they dont want to play City/Country, then they dont want to play Origin either. Make it a rule (and bloody well stick to it), dont wanna play city/country, you dont play Origin!!!
Obviously majority of the players wont play Origin as they are not good enough but those who are in with a chance of making the squad will be forced to play City/Country if they want a chance to play Origin. Not only is this a chance for Selectors to make a better decision on who should play for NSW, this is giving back to the RL community, lots of players come from the Bush/Country and people living in the Bush/Country never get to see a high quality game without having to travel hours & hours. this game is for the Bush (and this is coming from a City fan).
These players get paid to do what they love which is play football, hell i'd play in the NRL in a heartbeat on my current salary (which is less the minimum NRL wage), Id play Origin for free, no prouder/greater moment then running onto the ground going into battle with your mates, representing your state wearing the State colours.
NSW needs to breed this kind of attitude back into the players (and all NSWRL departments). If you Love this game, show us you love the game!!!
